Default Richmond 6 speed transmission

Maybe 100 miles on it if that. Was in a show car and he went with a TKO for some reason. Part # 1626ED. Includes shifter and trans mount.

These are almost $3600 and Jegs has a shipping date of early 2014.

$3100

I have a powdercoated scattershield for an extra cost.

I haven't found the exact specs but there are several cars out there in the 750 HP range running these.

Richmond is a bit secretive about power ratings. On their web site, under FAQ, they list the torque rating at 450 ft lb "conservatively". No mention if that torque level is warrantied and no mention at all about horsepower.

Yes, that is conservative. I have known of several that run this exact trans with much more than stated for many trouble free miles and that is why I picked it for my boosted build. I never intended to bolt slicks on the car and make a bunch of 1/4 mile blasts, I wanted a good solid street trans with OD that could handle plenty of street power.

How much modification is needed to get this to fit into a stock 1st gen Firebird, or any of the A bodies through 72? Is this a direct fit for any of them?

thanks,

Chris

It's pretty much a bolt in with some very slight trimming at the most for a 2nd gen. An A body would have more room.

Nope, still got it. My garage is easier to move around in but my gun safe is very full. Thinking of buying my daughter a Sig P226 so she can enjoy IDPA.

We have a customer in Houston that is running this transmission in a 1969 firebird with 850+ Hp 900 Lbft of torque (boosted engine) at the flywheel and it takes it all day long.

Plus it is a dream to drive and cruise at 75 mph at 1700 rpm on the Houston express way.

Hmm, my wife put a spending lock down on the goat so no dice there. lol However, I might be able to help you go ahead and fill that safe up to the top if interested....I've got quite a few nice once to choose from.

A friend in Dallas has the same trans in his twin turbo Nelson Racing small block for years with never a problem. He did the Car Craft Tour one year but the motor was tamer, 750hp.
