Default 64 GTO Tail Pipe Question

Exhaust system from Inline Tube...

Something doesn't look right with the Tail Pipes.
Like they're hanging too low.

Are they supposed to be visible from the side, below lower quarter?

That looks too low to me. I would say the tips should only be slightly exposed under the bumper - and should go back a little further too.

If I recall - the shop manual shows those measurement specs, but I haven't read my 64 shop manual for a while.

Sure is a nice '64!

Here's how I did the ones on my wife's '64. Note that they are visible below the bumper, but only about an inch or so.

The tailpipes also had the ends cut as they are on my wife's car so the ends are roughly parallel with the ground. I copied that off my original '64 tailpipe ends I still have.

Looks to me like the pipe is too low in the hanger. I think you need to swap sides and flip the hanger up side down from the way it's installed.

Bends on the pipes over the axle look all wrong.
To me anyway. But I had splitters and the splitters were farther forward vs the pass car type dumps next to the rear bumper.

Hmm....

Could it be that Inline Tube doesn't quite replicate original form on Tail Pipes?

Guess I should have spent $1k + for a Gardner system huh?

Here's a ref. pix of the Tail Pipe from one on EBAY...

Anyone have a readable instruction sheet showing dimensions for cutting Tail Pipe and installing splitters?
Accessory installation sheet? (image from Restoration Guide not very good quality).
Obviously, we need to resolve this low tailpipe issue before installing the Splitters.

Appreciate all of the great feedback!

Bought a decent original driver quality set for my car.
I used this as an external guide. Got my Hangers from Ames.

I think the splitters take a different hanger in the back don't they?
