There was no way Iwas going to beat him up. I asked for 27K and he thought about it for a few minutes. I woulda paind him the full price with no problem. I just had to negotiate something. Its in my blood.

Good deal on the wheels. Ill take a close look at the condition and let you know how they look. They need to go.

Great find, but I think the wheels really make the car!

Real Nice,
Best of Luck bringing it back into Top Working Order.

IMO I'd keep the R1 Rims & loose that Fugly steering wheel

Congrats!! I have a very similar story with the purchase of my 66 GTO, except I want to get R1's and redlines for it and mine is Candelight Cream. How are the tires? If Boss only wants the rims, I would like the tires if not already spoken for. Also if by chance Boss passes on the rims could I get on the list for them? I had to detail my engine bay and did that first as my engine was also very nasty. I also changed out the 2bbl intake and carb for a 4bbl intake and rebuilt Carter carb. My engine is a 66 Catalina 389, next on the list for me is a cam upgrade. My heads are 091's and I have been told by others here to leave them instead of getting 093's. Not really sure why. Again Congrats on a very Beautiful Goat!! glad you got what you wanted, Old Blue was a Very NICE and hard to replace Pontiac.

Congratulations! That is an interesting top color, is it called gold? I was just going through data tag codes yesterday for my '67 Vert and didn't see that one pop up, and I have never seen anything besides black or white on a stock car. I recall wanting a Parchment color top to match the interior when I put mine on back in the 80's but they didn't exist.

I know you have your mind made up, but I say keep the wheels. If not, and they are 15's, give me a holler.

Congrats Paul! That is a gorgeous 66 Goat. Great score.

And.... it's the color mine is supposed to be. I'll trade with ya. LOL

Sorry if I'm picky, but I mean no harm. Just 2 suggestions. Change the seat covers to Legendary. And keep the Grant steering wheel. At least give it a try for awhile. You'll love the feel of it once you drive with it a few times. Other than that it looks perrrrrrrfect. I love the matching top too.

BTW... could be a ground problem with the radio, or a connector is loose in the back. Maybe antenna connection loose.

The top is original to the car and is called Beige. Number 6 on the far right of the cowl tag. Ive never seen one before either.

This 66 Lemans that I was looking at has the same color interior and matching top that the seller says was the original color top for the car. This car is suppose be be running through Mecum next month.

Although that LeMans looks pretty darn good too Paul, I know you'll be alot happier with the GTO. Now it once it's in yer driveway, drive it like you stole it.... but carefully. LOL

Now you've got a great excuse to come out the the PY show next July. We'll all be lookin for ya.

Nice score Paul, congrats!

Wheels look to be original 14X6 size.

May be interested in the tires if they're not too old according to the date codes.

Enjoy!

Bart
