And this one (incorrectly identified as a 67) is a decent driver. I looked at this one in detail via pictures. Needs paint and some rust work on a door. Seller has this car and seven others going through the block all at no reserve.

This Grand Am was at Mecum 3 times, finally sold, probably to someone that was unaware that it didn't sell the first two times, and now they're trying to flip it.

It's nice looking, but very basic, and not well optioned. They made a lot of them wearing the Ascot Silver/Oxblood color combo. Only value there is it's track history.

Looking through the pics it looks like a nice car, did anyone else notice how rusty the cig lighter recepticle was, and it appears there is no lighter.

Every time I look at that the pictures of that GA those WideOvals just jump out at me. They look out of place... since EVERY Grand Am came with radial tires as standard equipment.

I wonder if they have some kind of documentation of it being used at the track with bias ply tires or if it was just some liberties taken with the restoration?


I wouldn't mind having this one. I had an Ascot Silver '73 some years back- it's the car I regret selling the most.

Not trying to be critical but I do have a question about the Grand Am. On the rear decklid it says 6.5 Litre. Shouldn't it say 6.6 Litre? I alway thought the 6.5L was the designation for the 389 engine while 6.6L was the designation for the 400? Am I wrong or is that logic not applicable to this particular model? Again, not trying to be critical, just curious.

Just someone in Pontiac marketing making a random decision about what sounded more "European". That badge is correct for the car.

It's really splitting hairs here, but the old GTO crest, used from 1964-1968, had a little "6.5 LITRE" callout under the GTO letters. When the GTO began, it had 389 cubic inches, and actually, 6.4 liters is closer to 389 (it comes out to 390.55 cid, where 6.5 liters comes out to 396.6 cid. It was marketing decision where they thought 6.5 liter sounded (and looked) better on the crest.

Note that Pontiac also used the European spelling of liter (litre) on the GTO crest, a marketing tactic by DeLorean to make it appear the GTO appear more European.

The 6.6 liter callout (and 7.4 for the 455) used on the Grand Am was again a marketing move to make the Grand Am appear more European.

6.6 liters is 402.7 cid, which is actually closer to the 400 cube engine size, and nearly spot on for the later Oldsmobile 403, which used "6.6 LITRE" callouts on their shaker scoop.

The 7.4 liter is 451.5 cid, and 7.5 liter is 457.68 cid. I guess they could have gone either way with this, but they chose to use 7.4 liter as their callout.
