So its the end of the year my GTO's engine is out going to do some PM work on it. Ive had a pretty good year, got to the semis 3 times and ran my first 7 sec. ET! At Frankenmuth (in september) I broke an wrist pin warming it up for the starting Parade to kick off Autofest (HUGE car show and Cruise), they only pick around a dozen or so cars to be in the Parade! Actually it probably broke the wrist pin at the Pontiac race at Norwalk. I was warming it up (or just crankling it over to start it) for first round of the Q16 on Sunday it locked up..........fluid in the cylinders (SH_T happens, its race car stuff). (back to the Autofest) So i was warming it up for the Parade and it started to make a noise.........DAMN! Took it home after Autofest and tore the engine down to see the broken wrist pin......No.2 cylinder! Well the engine was built by KRE in 2007, so the pistons, wrist pins and block are the original parts from 2007, not bar 12 years old!!! Ive changed rods and Crankshaft since 2007. Guess i should have changed wrist pins........LOL! What cool about the whole thing is my bearings look still NEW (gotta love the GRP aluminum rods in boosted engines), i installed bearings with the new crank in 2018, so that 2 years on the bearings (rods & mains). They will be going back in when I reassemble the engine for next year!

Just an update on my boost car.
I spent the last week or so going through scenarios and I think I'm going to replace all of my pistons and pins, also get new total seal gapless rings (which is what i had in it the last 12 years). I have Ross dished pistons (4.31b) in my engine with Ferrea .990 70038 tapered wrist pins. It seems Ferrea doesn't make those pins anymore (again they were 12 years old) so I need to find some!

So I'm having no luck on the wrist pins, I'm going to have one weighed so i can come up with something else. they lasted a looooooong time and i trying not to rebalance my crankshaft. Another thing i was having an issue with was my front spark plugs going lean. talking to a carb place they were saying i needed to run a 224 jet in my carbs, i have 212 in them now, the thing is I'm not sure if the metering block with flow the additional fuel it will need for the 224 jet. Funny think the roots blower pushes fuel to the front and thats where it going lean at......LOL!

George, George, George.
You know fuel injection would pick that thing up half a second!

The only problem with that would be my intake...........i would need port and on top of the blower injection port because its running lean in the front cylinders. With my BDS intake i have no room for that, its a low intake.

Yea I was thinking about that but changing jets or whatever would be difficult.

IF you're intent on balancing cylinder-to-cylinder volume and A/F ratios, and
IF you insist on carburetors, and
IF you didn't mind some fabrication, then:

I'd recommend fabbing an "empty" manifold- simply a large "plenum". This would give better balance than the BDS manifold. If you wanted perfect balance, you could also provide room for port nozzles in the manifold (along with a hat in place of carbs, of course!).

I need to make a change somewhere, with the front cylinders going lean now the carbs probably aint going to get it. Im doing a lot of researching........big pain!
Some kind of port injection is probably the only cure.......or just slow the car down.............I don't think so! LOL!

That's why you use mechanical fuel injection.

A couple of Toilet bowls and you'd be like, why didn't I do this 20 years ago.
(best thing I ever did was going to the Toilet bowl)

Thats true, and you will know after the first time you take it for a pass and check your plugs if it passed fuel or not....
