Default Leather steering wheel wrap

I hate the look of my cracked beige steering wheel, 1966 OEM, and I want to wrap the wheel with leather.

I did a search and I see some wraps tear if you try to stretch them. My concern is that my OEM wheel is very thin, and the size of it since the car came with manual steering.

I can't afford a new steering wheel and the thing is right in my face and I feel the cracks. (stop right there).

Any suggestions? Plz don't tell me Katskins...........my budget is less than $20.

I did a forum search on here and nothing showed.

THX as always AZ

I take it this means you are not sending me a new steering wheel.

I did order a HELLO KITTY wrap and now I'm torn between the tiger print and the Hello Kity

My wife has a leopard print dress I could cut up and try. She won't miss it.......and if she sees it on my steering
wheel, I'll just keep looking forward as I drive to the attorney or hospital depending on her reaction.

Well I tried one of those steering wheel covers, from Walmart, home of the place to return things that fail.
I'm on my way back to Walmart.
The threads started to snapcrackle and pop after I had it on, and I don't mean the cereal.
And now, back to the drawing board.............

I was fussing about what to do with our wheel. I checked out getting it restored, etc. I also got another one off of Craigslist and it's in great shape, just not red.

I ended up getting this wrap off of eBay. Problem solved. It took a while to find one in red, but colours are out there. I like the vintage look of the wheel and I don't mind saying that I like the feel of it as well.

I'm not sure how this would've held up when we had manual steering. Switching to PS was the best improvement that we made to our car.

Here's one that I quickly found this morning. I did see some in actual leather with the leather string. Maybe they are more durable.
