After I checked all the springs and they are dual springs by the way I was putting back the rocker arms and noticed the #8 exhaust valve was hung partially open. I was able to get it to close but it is sticky and I may have too tight of a clearance between the valve and the guide. It will be a PITA getting the head off with a big PB booster in the way and head studs in place. I will pull the head and take it to a shop have have then check all the valve guides to valve clearance. I may just pull the engine as I have been wanting to do a cam change anyhow. I don't like the way the springs eat up the shims under the springs I wish I would of used a spring locator and no shims.

Yes, you need to pull that head if only for the reason being that if nothing else that Exh valve will need to get replaced as I guarantee you it's stem is worn more then .003" in some spots!

I just love (not) pulling the engine when I have RA/HO exhaust manifolds and AC compressor and power steering and a big ass 1967 PB booster. Normally I prefer to pull the engine and trans out together and then separate them out of the car. With this car I think it might be easier to pull the trans first. What are your thoughts on this? I do have a two post lift and will buy a trans jack to pull the trans out.

Leave the trans in , yank the Intake off and pull the whole motor.

Still no need to pull the motor. I have pulled heads off the drivers side with the PB in the way. You can still sneak the head off. Also if you want, just remove the PB. Its easier than pulling the whole motor.

It's hard for me to enjoy the car when it leaks engine oil and tranny fluid. So the engine is coming out with the trans just want to figure out the easiest way to accomplish this. I think what I may have to do is disconnect the manifolds from the engine and exhaust pipe then lift the engine up one side at a time to allow enough clearance to get the manifolds out. Then pull the engine.
