6X Heads
Does anyone know the chamber size of the 6X-4 and the 6X-8

The shop measured my 6X-4 at 94 cc. I measured 90cc at home.
The shop measured my 6X-8 at 100cc. I wonder if my shop actually measures the chambers or looks up the codes for the info. Wallace racing has most of the info on their site. http://www.wallaceracing.com/headsearch.htm |

I've seen on average over the years 96 CCs for the -4s and 104 or so for the -8s, these have had a freshen up valve job already when I got my hands on them which accounts for the larger chamber size.
You should CC yours to find out where you are as you want to be within 3 CC of whatever you need to get to your target compression, as anything more then that and your off by 1/4 of a compression point.

With very few exceptions all the -8's I've measured were right at 101cc.
Most -4's are 92cc, but I have measured what I was pretty sure were untouched -4's at 88cc and a couple pairs at 96cc......

As usual, there no better way to go then bitting the bullet and getting set up to CC your heads !
You can a plastic 100 cc buret for 30 bucks or less before shipping and then all you need is 5" X 5" scrap of plexiglass, some 70% ally and some wheel Bearing grease!

LOL, and those heads would likely have different numbers from all the specs quoted, so far, on this thread...

Yes and both are from rebuilt engines so who knows if they were milled.

6X-8 = 98cc
6X-4 = 92cc These are "ballpark, as advertised" figures...always measure.

Some 6x heads are well over 120cc you want to check them.

I don't know that I have ever seen that, as you may be thinking of the 6H castings that look externally like the 6Xs, but have 120 CCs.

There would have to be some 5 series 120+ CC heads for the 455 I would think also.
