As if I needed another reason to despise country music. Now they hate Pontiacs. I should have known.

I love that song! She hates Pontiacs because that idiot boyfriend who dumped her had a red TA. Lolol. And it reminded her of him.

Hilarious!!
I'm going to find where she's at and park an Aztek in her driveway.
That stuff is not Country to me. It's some sad genre of mainstream music that lost its way.

Heard a live cover by Patti Smith tonight doing Crystal Ship.,
Impressive.

There's still some good country music being made, you just aren't likely to hear it on the radio.

Why can't we embed Youtube videos on this forum?

Same here. The last cd I bought was a Waylon Jennings best of CD. 95% of the songs on the radio are watered down pop music.

Well, Lyle Lovett had a great early album titled "Pontiac" with some excellent songs. Title song is a sad story, though.

I don't think he can be called a "country artist" however, in spute of his Texas roots.

You beat me to it! And gotta admit, every time I heard that song, I would cringe at the "shackled up GTO" lyric but NEVER considered the possibility of it being a '74 so now I'm going with that. I liked the song despite that lyric and now I can like the lyric too.

And I'm with Firedup, I like the song. She doesn't really hate Pontiacs, she hates the ex. Pontiac's been gone more than 10 years. It's a positive whenever they get a mention in a song.

I'm a sometime fan of country. Surprised at all here that don't like the new stuff.

To each his own, different tastes in music is why there are so many genres.

Will, not sure what you like about that song. I got thru about half of it and had to turn it off. I've heard worse on "America Thinks It's Got Talent" but that recording would be right up there. So there you go. Different strokes and all that.

Back in the 60's and 70's, I referred to country music as "Twang" - and that was not a positive comment... I listened to RocknRoll. The Beatles, Stones, Deep Purple, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Neil Young solo, Three Dog Night, Steve Miller Band, Phil Collins, etc...

In the late 70's and on, some of the country music started appealing to me with groups like Alabama, Shania Twain, Brooks and Dunn, etc. Thomas Rhett is one of my current favorites.

Tastes change and evolve.

Neil Young's concert in Lethbridge, Alberta is still my highlight concert of my life. My wife worked up there from 2004 - 2010 and she called me one night asking how bad I wanted see Neil Young perform - and I said if he was playing the ENMAX Centre in Lethbridge and she hadn't already bought the tickets she was in trouble.... Back then, if she didn't come home for the weekend, they would fly me to where she was. So the only cost of the concert was the tickets (and the shirt). She had an apartment, a company car, company CC for the gas and was on per diem. The ENMAX Centre (the hockey arena for the Lethbridge Hurricanes) was about a mile from her apartment.

One of my favorite Neil songs...
