16" white Trans Am 8" rims.
These suckers just will not hold air for any period of time, Tires have basically no miles on them. Suggestions on how to seal these wheels up so they operate like steel rims and hold air for months and months.

Thorough cleaning/grinding of the bead area would be my first thought, assuming that has not already been tried. Valve stems as noted by the Baron could also be a possibiltiy.
Inner tubes or fix a flat are just not good options, IMHO. |

The GM fix for leaky cast wheels was a coat of epoxy paint on the inside of the rims.
Need to do the soapy water treatment to find exactly where the leak is. Some knock-on balancing weights would also cause a slow leak on these wheels. The metal tab would pry the bead away from the rim. Some of them would only leak when the weight was down with the weight of the car on it. That made the leak hard to find with the wheel/tire off the car. Clay |

Some tire shops use wax- basically a huge crayon to run around the inside of the rim on the sealing surface. It worked on my chrome Firehawk wheels and my wife new Charger

What a great idea 1965gp. I have dealt with bugger tires that will not seal despite all my feeble efforts.
I have one of those old anti squeak metal tubes with beeswax in it. Next time it will be my go to fix. |

Bart, Tires are 6 years old, no miles never seen sunlight, stored on the car in the garage on stands, Wheels were used.
Some have said they might be dry-rotted but two of the 4 tires hold air perfectly and have for years. Tom V.

Tires that are six years old are not an issue in the least.
I suspect that either the beads aren’t sealing or the rims are porous, some great suggestions in the posts above.

Tom my 04 GTO started having a leaker. It was leaking around the bead. Some of that white chalky aluminum corrosion had started. Popped the tires off, wire wheeled it and so far so good for 9 months. Tire store guy wanted to sell me new wheels of course said it would not fix it. I guess just mounting multiple sets over the years had scuffed the clear coat to allow moisture to get there. But we could see it leaking at the bead in the leak tub.
All my asphalt car wheels(and the 16" steel custom ones I used autocrossing) have clear silicone where the two halves meet.
