Glad you were able to check it out in person. I have never bought cars from these types of businesses. They are usually very deceitful in their representations and know very little about what is correct. They are doing this as a business and will tell you what you want to hear.
I typically buy from private individuals and spend quite sometime to get to know the person through phone calls and emails. I always try and drive the car as well. I have seen some beautiful cars that did not run or drive well at all. Lesson to all that things always look better in pictures and videos. |

No
But that was way off the charts in "poetic liberties" used in his description. Although they state inspections welcomed and encouraged, that apparently was even more malice and deception to tempt buyers to make an out-of-state sight unseen purchase. Posted the info in case anyone ever runs a search on the company or the salesman. Majority of used car salesmen are never honest or concise, but this was an overly extreme example. "might be the nicest example In The World" wow small world |

Sounds more like it should have read -
with some repairs and debugging, numerous corrections and some extra monies here and there, this could be one of the nicest 66 GTO's In Your Neighborhood. |

People like that who grossly misrepresent a car make it tougher on those who don't. Buyers will get the impression every ad or description is a outright lie.

Yep, sounds exactly like the guy at the shop where I keep my GTO who flips classic cars on the side. His cars are all priced very high, but run like crap and have a multitude of issues that need ironing out. Yet another reminder to never buy a classic car sight-unseen.

Just saw this thread now. If the car meets your standard (and in this case it doesn't) I can tell you what my wife would say. Don't forget to factor in the good times you'll have taking it out to shows, maybe the track, cruise nights and even on errands to the local hardware store. Good luck seaching.

Interesting. Dad was born and raised on a farm just outside of Foam Lake. Looks like they have at least two '66's. Both look very appealing

Oh okay, there is a large high end muscle car dealer in Charlotte NC that have a lot of very nice cars. RK Motors
I haven't checked their website in a while, but if you saw anything of interest they have, i could do an inspection. They usually have a good inventory of Pontiacs on hand. Long way from your home, but a little shorter than Florida. The canada site lists having six 66 GTO's, but only 2 or 3 have a picture. In your price range, you should be able to pick from practically the cream of the crop of 66 Hardtops. Like perhaps even National Award Winning cars (POCI - GTOAA) Maybe if you had access to their National Classifieds (POCI & GTOAA) you could locate a car of that prominence. Not that you are looking for a showboat, but a car with that clout would go a long way towards sifting through the so-so stuff. |

I'm not liking the look of those cars for the prices being asked. They all seem pretty high given the condition and level of cleanliness/prep that falls very deeply into the driver status. Where refurbishing was done, it doesn't appear to be a particularly high standard. Which is fine, if you knock $10-15k off the asking price. Also, asking $125k for a '69 convertible with paint that looks like the owner washed it with a Scotch-Brite pad... Alrighty then... It ain't the first quarter of 2008 anymore...

Anyway I've never seen the fasttoys GTO's , it's always been closed when I've driven by . The owner wanted to look at a 65 I had for sale a long time ago but he waited forever to come look . It was long gone by then . |

Agree 100% with BVZ - join GTOAA and POCI for the year and watch their classifieds.
Sucks that northwest legends don’t have their forum anymore as there was some decent local stuff posted on there from time to time. Avoid any “classic car” dealer like the plague. |
