Another one is the manual trans shift knobs (black ball for standard interior, red insert w/shift pattern for deluxe interior/4 spd and red insert w/arrowhead for 3 spd) big matt: I believe that started in late '72 and went into the '73 model year... |

If I new that the 70 bird was so special I woundn't have bought one! I think that photos of these parts would be benificial for all firebird owners.

Overall, the list looks pretty full. Not much else I can think of other than: 1) '70 woodgrain instrument cluster bezel had a lighter woodgrain tone than '71+ 2) Through about the middle of the '70 model year, the trunk floor had 4 ecoat drain holes (later cars all have only 2). 3) Not sure I saw the chrome gauge ring bezels for T/As mentioned. I know some early '71s got them as well, and many '70s seem to have not got them, but this is still mostly a "70 thing". 4) '70 rear quarter side trim pieces had no ash trays.... did '71s have ash trays? 5) And for some reason I was thinking the rear seat back frame was a bit different on a '70, too?

Don't the 71 and up cars have a seat belt light in the dash as to where the 70's do not? That might be another one but I am not near my car to look.

Have examined original '70 1/2 T/A's with two different sized rear swaybars.
All the original & complete '71 & '72 T/A's I've ever looked at def had the 7/8" rear swaybar. |
