Wilwood had five different compositions for their replacement pads on my drag car brakes. I just went up one click and there was a noticeable increase in the amount of bite. I would suspect that EBC or any of their competitors probably offer a good assortment of shoes and pads for stock calipers.
There's a tradeoff for everything and the downside will be faster rotor/drum wear or possibly some squeal until there's some heat in the brakes for a race oriented set.

Yes, MANY years ago on the rear drums after I read about them someplace and they got good reviews, probably a magazine article. The company back then was actually called Praise Dyno Brakes and probably the only game in town back then. No definitive testing conducted on my part.

I’ve been using the Musclecar Brakes shoes on the front and back for five or six years and they worked really well at first but need replaced. When they were new I couldn’t fade them at all but last year there was some white knuckle experiences in the shutdown area at the track.
I’ve good things about Porterfield a may try them just or break down and convert to discs.

Used Porterfield on the back of my 97 Chevy truck and their disc pads in the front. Pads on the front were a little aggressive but still have them on the rear.
