Ray is a long time "old school" racer and family friend. Unlike many opions on this board, Ray would run big gears, 5.14, 5.38 and launch the car at high RPMS, 5000+. Working on a limited financial budget, Ray would find ways of coming up with the "Hot Set Up" Pontiac parts and push them to its limits. During the 70's and 80's, Ray would share his Pontiac knowledge and sell us parts he no longer needed, he still owns a low 10 second, 4 speed 1962 Tempest.

Thanks for the back ground information. With the RA V I heard it was a very high winding motor that needed to be 7,000 or more to reach it's full potential? Running high gears and Stall would probably be the right set up for that time of motor (I could be wrong).

Were those heads made with the intent to run against other small cubic inch motors like the Z28 302/etc?

I know this isn't a very good shot, but this is a rear shot of the 'Limelighter'. It was supposedly the National F stock record holder in 68. It was out of the Twin Cities area. I shot some pics of this car in the late 80's, it was ordered from the factory with no undercoating or seam sealer. The protectoplate showed 'WS' or HO engine, but the car had the ultra rare 67 Ram Air engine and heads in it when I saw it. I could have bought it in the early nineties, but wasn't able to pull it off. Anyone have any further info on it?

the choke on a RA V is the stock 4bbl intake. The one on that engine was moded for dominator. The way to make a V work is a tunnel ram intake. The stock intake gives up in the mid to low 6000s.JMO,Tom

Default First Springnats at Bristol

I have a picture of me running against Bill ?? from NJ.; during B/S class at the first Springnatls at Bristol. He was in a new 427 Chev. Biscayne and me in a '62 SD Catalina. His car was blue w/white, mine black & gold. My car came from David Iwaniuk from the Detroit area. He got it from a nephew of George Delorian. #56322.

Wally Booth won the class w/new Chevelle, 12.33, I think.

I have no idea how to post an old photo. Also have photos of first '63 Swiss cheese car (Mickey Thompson's) and second Swiss cheese car (Royal Pontiac) when I had them in the '80's.......

Picture of current car, had it since late '70's, at least it is an older race car.

That's great piece of history. I also like the "old Milwaukee / 12 pack of cans" bill board (or is that the Tower?) add in the back ground - Cheers!

Steve's (slowspitzer) GA was an ex-prostock car itself if I'm not mistaken, pretty trick little car. Don't weigh sh#t! I don't know why he wants to get rid of it (yeah I do!) but he'll miss it after it's gone if he ever sells it.

Default Swiss Cheese Cats.

I thought all 14 Swiss Cheese Catalina's are accounted for and still exist today?

Who knows about Bobby Watson's Catalina? if you look at the picture there arent any holes bored in the frame rails!

The pic came from the Book "Factory Lightweights" By Charlie Morris, I'm not sure if all The swiss cheese cars are accounted for, I know several of them still exists! inculding the one you own. It's sounds like in the book, he interviewed Bobby Watson,He's from Georgia, among others, as reference sources in writing it, but you know the old saying "don't believe everything you read" LOL!

I had always heard that after Bobby Watsons car was totaled, Pontiac had him dispose of it and it ended up in the bottom of the river. There are guys around here that saw that car run in Phenix City Alabama back in the day.
