The General Lee jumping over the T/A would be a great picture!

My pop past away in 1956 and I was wondering if you would consider adopting me.

I feel bad for you 65gp...I mean all that stress of having to come up with an idea of how to photograph your 69 TA clone...I feel so bad in fact I will let you ship the car to me and you won't have to worry about it any more....just trying to help a fellow enthusiast.

If you had to pick one of those as your favorite...……..which would it be?

That’s a great question... I really don’t know. I always knew I wanted multiple cars to serve multiple purposes. It just kind of grew from there.

The one that means the most to me isn’t even in these pics. The year I was born my dad bought 1970 LeMans (sold their Verdero green 68 bird) because they were having a second kid (me). I came home from the hospital in that car and it’s what I remember riding is as a kid. Silver with green interior- kind of an odd combo.

I drove that same car to high school. Pretty much every milestone in my teens involved that car (yes everything !). I got 4 tickets after school one day and decided that the smartest thing to do was spray paint it black so it was ‘unrecognizable’!!

To make things worse when I was in college a tree fell on this car and the blue 70 GTO- the LeMans took the hard hit.

We stashed the car in the barn and a few years later decided if it would run we would try to fix it. It’s like the car was waiting it’s turn!! The car started up on 15 year old gas and drove out on 4 flat tires. Here are a few pics of it when we fired it up. You can see in one pic the roof looks a little odd on the pass side where the tree hit it

I eventually refurbished the car- it drives great and has 208,000 miles on the original motor,Trans and rear. The plastic timing gear was replaced around 1978.

This car is like a time machine to me- my dad is still around but because of him I will most likely never sell this car. It’s like this car and I have been connected my entire life. It’s not the most exciting, not very fast and as a kid I would have traded it for a rusted out GTO in a second. But now when I get in it, I laugh almost the entire time!

Our goal was to make it look tough without making it a GTO. Obviously we eventually got the 70 GTO (I also have a convertible being painted) and we didn’t want this car to lose its identity.

One night after a party I walked out front and the car wasn’t there. I was sick at the thought of anyone besides me in that car. I literally freaked out and my wife had to calm me down! After 5 min I remembered I put the car in the garage. That’s when I realized how much this car meant to me

This does a good job of showing the color. We used a Mercedes silver to brighten it up some.

Thank you for asking! This car rarely gets any attention....

GTOspieg, I know it sounds crazy but these cars would welcome someone driving them! Unfortunately they spend more time getting dusted than driven due to my work schedule.

1965gp...Having too many cars to drive is a problem most of us wouldn't mind having. Your Lemans is sweet. I understand about not wanting to get rid of a car. I'm currently restoring my Tempest that I've owned since 1980. I just couldn't throw it away even though most would have based on the rust issues.

It’s weird when a car has been there for that long, it’s hard to imagine not having it.

My plan (that I told my wife) was to sell the cars when my daughters go to college. That day is fast approaching and it will be interesting to see if I can do it....

Sure- my wife’s Grandfather bought that truck new. Her uncle drove it up on a tree 20 some years ago, then they sold the land. My brother in law bought the land back around 08 and the truck was still there and the owner still had the title in her grandfather’s name. We got the truck as a Christmas gift around 2014/2015 to see if we could fix it. Here are some pics of it after it was pulled from the field, after we cut all the rust off and it (mostly) completed.

Had something interesting happen on pro-Touring.com. A couple weeks ago. A guy messaged me saying he wanted to do a quick write up on my 72. I figure this was probably an exercise to build his folio, still- I thought it was cool. He asked a for the history of the car and a few details. Some of the details are wrong, but he got most if correct from the build thread

Airstrip is a great idea- we have a small airport right by our house

The 70 LeMans has the 15x8 reproduction wheels you buy from Summit- I think the tires are 275/50 15; I can check for sure. I know they won’t fit on my 69 bird.
