https://www.ebay.com/itm/Pontiac-V8-...oAAOSwOIxcbuK6 I don't know why you don't run the ones you have. Just drill the misaligned holes out the next drill size up. If you're worried about oil leaking, don't. That is what the valve cover gasket is there for. If not convinced, you can go to the hardware store and buy 8 bonded washers like they use on corrugated metal building roofs (rubber washer bonded to a metal one). They are small enough to fit the valve cover recess and come in stainless, too. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...s&_sacat=33034

can you post a pic of the misalignment? or describe which way the holes are off?
if the holes are misaligned you dont need to enlarge the entire hole, you just elongate the hole in the direction needed to let the bolts start. lots of aftermarket engine & body parts dont always line up or stock parts after something has been modified like intakes when heads are milled. |

Have checked the heads against a stock valve cover? That sounds like a ridiculous situation. Does a valve cover gasket fit on the heads?

It’s just that the Trans Dapt and assault racing covers come from the same place and they are off just enough to piss you off. The Cal Customs I think they were fit the heads fine. They were on it when I got it back from the machinist and were on the 326 before it. If you read the reviews on summit EVERY comment but one says you have to enlarge the holes. Same on amazon. I just didn’t use the ones I had because they were satin. I should have had them chromed. I ordered Edelbrock and they will be here tomorrow. If they don’t fit then I will scream

I just changed valve covers, and the holes didn’t line up. I used scotch tape to hold the gasket in place and pulled the covers up about a 1/4 inch to angle it as needed to get all 4 bolts started. I then tightened’em, and they fit fine now - go figure.
I did have to buy longer ARP bolts than the ones that held my Offy covers on.

Edelbrock valve covers just fell on. Perfect alignment. The finned ones from Trans Dapt and Assault Racing are chinese crap

I would check out the valve covers sold by Moon. They are top notch, and have holes in them for breathers.
