Why do you need a spacer in between the frame & frame mount. What does this cure?? Why do you need to space the engine that way. What problems is the taking care of, or what is the engine doing that makes you need the spacer???

Smile These are used to compensate for frame sag

After about a hundred thousand miles (or more) on our old frames, they start to droop in the center.

As the frame droops, the center comes down and the ends rise up.

The fan shroud rises along with the radiator support and the fan either gets very close to or hits the bottom of the shroud.

Putting the spacers in, give you extra clearance for the fan, placing it back in the center of the shroud opening. This CAN allow you to use a larger diameter blade and cool more efficiently.

Just put hardened washers between your block & engine mount

The chassis in my wagon has just went over 400,000 and these spacers put everything back where it should be. Very happy with them. Installed them around January 2014. I also don't believe the new Indian made motor mounts put everything exactly where the old GM mounts used to.

Sorry for the tardy reply... these only work on 'A' bodies with all engine sizes except 455 (the 455 has larger motor mounts and frame brackets...

They seem like a really good simple fix but I as well as a lot of others most likely have 455 engines and you say they don't work with them. i would definitely be interested if they were for my engine though.

we did not design the plate to fit the 455 bracket just because I did not have a 455 in my GTO. Maybe that's something we can look into...

Hmmm, I have a 455 in my 69 Lemans and they worked for me.

You probably did not change out the original brackets & motor mounts to the 455 ones, right..? They are both much larger and need to use a longer mounting bolt.

I used mine on a 455 as well. But my 455 had been in there already for over 25 years on the 326 motor mounts. I believe the factory 455 installations are the ones with a longer mount ('70-'72)

Yes, it sits on the original frame brackets.

I have a set of 350 motor mounts as I am in the process of swapping in a 455 to my Lemans. I will have to check and see if it will work to put the 350 mounts in or if it is better to have the 455 mounts in. I really like the idea of adding a little extra clearance for my headers, hopefully the 350 mounts will work so I can pick up a set. Thanks for letting me know.

350 Mounts will work fine on a 455. (As I said, I have 326 mounts on mine). Pontiac was over engineering things with the slightly longer mounts in the 455 factory applications. Pontiac typically would design in extra strength parts as the displacement and the torque output went up. The frame brackets are a little bit longer, but mount to the same holes in the frame. This allows the 3 bolt longer engine mount to bolt to the chassis. The two bolt mounts work fine, however. Just get the best two bolt mounts for your original engine in the chassis and mount them to the 455. I used "Mity Mounts". And the spacers worked great on my high mileage chassis (400000 miles).

ID:	432258 This is the engine crossmember in my '66 Tempest Custom wagon when I pulled the engine to detail the compartment and install stainless brake lines about 2 1/2 years ago and I installed the spacers under my frame brackets while it was out. Actual "455" engine frame brackets have a little bit longer "loop" for the bolt to go through from the mount.
