MSD optispark a better unit than Delco
Is it really worth the hundred dollars over a new AC-Delco on a street 95 trans am? Are they that much better?

Not from what I've seen and heard.

purchased two "NEW" ac Delco opti sparks off e rape. Both were rebuilt not new. One had it stamped on the box, unit, and paper work even. The other Was in a different box than the one in the listing. When i questioned the seller and told him 2 GM parts people said it was rebuilt., he said " that's all you are going to find now. So why lie in your add? Anyway got a new one from Petris Enterprises. Came with new vacuum hoses too. that's a 75.00 savings there. But It had a noise on the inside when i got it. But they made it good. Shipped me a new one fast and gave me a free 5 year warranty for free. Great people to deal with.

I had an MSD unit, it was great, it ran for a few years then finally broke down because of the heater hose nipple leaking all over it.
Most of the first run problems have seemed to have been addressed. From everything that I saw on LTXtech and LS1tech the bulk of the problems were people not installing the O-ring correctly But from when mine finally did bite the dust, I sent it to MSD and they rebuilt it and did a few design updates to correct problems, the tech support engineers were really helpful and answered a ton of my questions

How well is MSDs warranty? I bought my opti from Auto Zone, unlimited life time warranty. It's been in 4yrs with no problems?

I got mine from Petris Enterprises it has a 5 year warranty and uses the same optics as the AC Delco dist. Plus it came with new vacuum lines and check valve. that alone sells for 75.00 on E bay. great people to work with.

I ended up with an AC Delco unit that I installed an MSD cap and rotor kit in. I think that's as bullet proof as it gets with the opti. Note: always use locktite on the rotor screws. That is what has failed on my previously unmodified opti's. Of course I'm exceeding the stock redline.
