Question 1: What are the small 'fender-to-cowl brackets' in the center of the following OPGI ad?
https://www.opgi.com/sheet-metal-bod...MaAlMZEALw_wcB -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Question 2: What do these 'fender-to-cowl' brackets attach to? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Question 3: I included a photo of a totally different metal bracket that I had removed from an original right front fender splash panel. It was attached to the splash panel with 3 sheet metal screws. There was a rubber splash seal stapled to this bracket. The bracket and seal sure looks to be an original GM part. The above kit from OPGI (same kit as in Ames catalog) does not include these metal 'seal retainer brackets' (for lack of a better description). Are they for air conditioned cars only? Or are they for 1966 only? The replacement rubber seal kits in the Ames catalog simply attach with staples. If they originally came with the metal 'seal retainer' brackets like the one I took a picture of, I would like to go with the exact way the factory did it years ago. Please chime in if you know the answers. I'm stumped! |

The small brackets appear to be the rear wheel tub braces, they secure the tub to the Firewall/cowl.
The brackets you posted look related to the AC baffle assembly

The wording 'fender-to-cowl' brackets is what threw me. I always thought the cowl was the upper portion of the firewall as in cowl induction. Just couldn't figure out how those brackets fit on the front of the fender up where the other parts in the kit attach. Should be called 'wheelhouse-to-torque box' brackets...if you ask me. P.S. Do the bolts in your up close picture of the brackets have E head markings? I've been researching original bolt head markings. |
