Hurst shifter fitment
I'm looking at this hurst shifter. I like it's wood grain more than the newer style hurt dual gates. Would this fit my 75 firebird with the floor shift console if I swapped the brackets with the proper firebird brackets? I have a th350 trans.

It's been a while since I had a FB but I seem to recall the opening having a trapezoid shape instead of the rectangular shape of that '67 unit.
I would think that you could probably find some wood grain applique for the proper shifter?

The proper shifter is also 3 times the price, 800 dollars new, would rather not pay that much.

Wow. I looked at one when I had my '74 and it was $200. 2004-ish.
I guess you can make anything fit with a little imagination. Make an adapter of some sort to fit the opening. Not sure what the cable length requirements might be for the th350 since those were intended for the th400 but again, it could probably be done.

That looks like the shifter from a GTO. I added one to my 1971 GTO back in 1980. I ordered it new from Noonan Pontiac Parts department. The wood grain was a little different grain than my 71. I have been looking for one for my 1976 Firebird also. I believe they were all Hurst aftermarket.

That one is a factory 1967 GTO shifter. All of the Firebird dualgates are aftermarket.

Almost anything can be made to fit. I did my conversion during Covid and the Firebird shifter wasn't available. This looks like a '68 GTO shifter, it's not a '67.
I installed a repop '67 GTO shifter in my '69 Bird. I realize my floorpan and console is different than yours, but the GTO Hurst shifters are taller than all the Firebird shifters. Measure how much height you have inside the console and ask the seller to measure the shifter height. I fabricated my own mounting brackets. I had to weld a pocket in the trans tunnel so I could lower the shifter 1.5" to fit under the console. You might also need to change the shift lever on the trans. Shiftworks sells one for Hurst conversions. Their lever changes the operating angle at the trans so you can get full range of gears otherwise you might not be able to adjust it and end up with Park through 2nd, no low. You'll also need to weld a tab onto the new lever for your column back drive rod.

The dual gate shifter 70-81 firebird and 73-81 Camaro are made for the console and have a curved shifter handle.

Those are both '67 shifters. The '68 doesn't have those visible screws in the corners and it's not made to sit on top of the console with the chrome edge showing but is recessed into it.
The one shown right above this post is the aftermarket one I looked at years ago for my Trans Am. It has the trapezoid shape made to fit the second generation consoles. If the one shown by the OP is a '68 it's been modified with a '67 top plate

Here my dual gate had a buddy mill me a plate from aluminum then my sons friend made me some new decals for the plate...
I wanted something stronger than the plastic mine was made of, the finger that divides the his and her part was cracked on mine hence I went with aluminum.... Not sure if the plate for a bird will fit onto a gto dual gate for functionality if it would u can always drill your own hole locations for the plate ....Maybe ?????? Almost anything can be made to work ....as mentioned ..Maybe someone knows ?????
