#731 D-Port Heads???
A set of D-port heads with casting #'s 731 and date code E227 are in existance. They came with the car we bought from some other car from some other motor that someone used as a door stop in a garage in south indiana. Not really, but for the last 4 years I've had no luck finding out what these were or what they originaly came off of. I have pixs that i can e-mail. these were 2.11/1.77 valve, and screw in rocker studs. any info would help. Thanks PONTIAC

I would like some pics, please.
I would say they are 1968 RAI heads usually cast 31. They probably cast the last 3 digits of the part number instead of the 2 digits.

problem with them being 68 ra 1 heads ....E227 cast date = may 1967...
that said i have seen 731 heads on a 68 ra1 bird built very early in october 1967. so maybe these heads are experimental ra heads for the following year? weirder still they predate late 67 ram air 1 heads (997 or 97)? odd (and pretty cool!) |

Thanks, now i can sleep at night. JK
