But, in looking inside the trunk lid of my car to answer a different question I noticed a lot of red primer bleeding through (where the black topcoat did not get good coverage).

That would lead me to believe they used red oxide for the bodies at the Pontiac plant, at least in September of 1964.

Keith, I am keping the 65 GTO that started this thread. As far as the picture that did posted, are you saying that is a picture of my GTO. Do not know what car that picture is of but is not my car for sure. If you go to Red Hill Rods and Chopper in Utah and go to sold inventory you will see all the pics.

Sorry for confusion. But in reviewing this thread I read a post and responded on body color of a (different) GTO that was on ebay. But I'm still under the belief that all GM cars have overspray to some degree in places that restorers are hesitant to simulate in there builds. Thus the term over restored.

frankly I think the issue is over rated. Coming from the corvette restoration croud I would hesitate to state that this represents over restoration. Not that I do or do not dis agree but that the term over restored gets used alot without defining what is simply restored. some very nice corvettes are over restored according to judges based on criteria established to represent what they look like comming off the assembly line.

but there is considerable agreement what constitutes what came off the line in corvette circles.

no such standard exist for pontiacs yet. and remember many beautiful well restored cars are classified as over restored.

I sent for the PHSs yesterday. After I have all the docs, I will start the long process of checking all the #s and then starting to price the cars and get them ready to be seen. After sitting for 30 years there will be a lot of time needed for cleaning. I have received a ton of pm and apologize for not answering all of them because I just do not have all the info yet. Received the PHSs today. WOW, very overwhelming but exciting. One suprise that I was not aware of was a 67 vert, HO motor, 4 spd, silver glaze, black interior and black top and 2 Signet Gold 67 verts as well. Its amazing after only 13 years of being on the road 3 cars had color changes. Once everything is put on a spread sheet I will post the info.

I emailed him and said I wanted to look at the car this weekend. Surprise, he did not email me back. Someone jacked my ebay last week and made some purchases. Ebay then shut me down until I called them to give them my info and get a new password. These maggots are making it more difficult to trust anyone.

No, that is the broker for Paul Teutul of Orange County Choppers. Not that all the cars he sells is only Pauls, but my 65 GTO happened to be from Paul's private collection.
