Funny, my Aunt Dot was the catalyst behind my infatuation with Pontiac's- the day she drove up to our house in a brand new Yorktown Blue '62 Bonneville convertible. She would follow that up in 69 with a green 428 Bonneville vert. Good taste those ladies..

^^ Boy, that looks like a fun car. I like the stance, color, everything...but are those truck tires on the back?

Back in the 70's I would go out and look at cars for sale, especially GTO's. There would be ads in the newpaper that would say "never saw a winter" or "stored winters". I would get there and the cars would have snow tires on. I even asked one guy, "never saw a winter?", "why does it have snow tires on?". He didn't know what to say.

$3092 was a lot of money for those young fellas in 1965.

Interesting front bumper. Also, the front tires are wide whitewalls turned in, then a thinner whitewall cut in on the outside. Funny thing is, I have seen this photo hundreds of times and never noticed that.

I think it's off a '63 Tempest/Lemans.

That's what I was thinking. I probably never noticed it because your eyes tend to gravitate to the Tempest grille.

Anything to lighten them up.
Tempest Grill much lighter then GTO grills. No lower headlamps either ramming in more air or just a few ounces off the front. Bumper likely needed to meet Class requirements ? Open scoop is definitely for MORE AIR Love the No Nonsense, whatever works look.

That's how we ran ours, too - no nosepiece in the scoop; no hood inner underneath that spot.
Just wide open. K
