Cheap decorations for the man cave
I had a doctors appointment yesterday so I took the day off of work. On the way home we had some time to kill so the wife and I hit a few antique/ thrift stores. I usually breeze through these places and my wife picks them apart looking for things to decorate the house with.
I was out in an old unheated barn and spotted a basket full of small items. I pulled out these boxes and asked “how much”. I was told that these items had sat there awhile so how about $1 each? Sold! Most boxes still have the original unused parts still in them. Figured I’d add to my collection in the pole barn.

Looking into this bowling pin. The building was torn down and this is left. I don't bowl but I hate to see it thrown away. Hard to judge how big it is though. Won't fit in my man cave or garage.

Maybe it will fit lying down? Then put 4 wheels on it... and an engine... and head for Bonneville?

Their lead Mechanic Ken was my 1st Bowling Alley Boss at Devon Lanes. He went from Devon Lanes to Frazier after a few decades.

Me too. I think the place is so big a lot gets overlooked. It used to be a lumber company. Their offices, showroom, and outdoor building used for dry storage of wood, was packed with stuff. I would have to spend hours there to see it all. These were in the massive outdoor building. Kind of hidden.
I like old things like this, but these days prices are so high I refuse to pay the crazy prices. Every once in a while people are more realistic like in this case. I have another Dr appointment in two weeks, so I’m going back as it was close to closing time when I got there

A few years ago when we added on to our garage I decided I wanted it decorated barn style with car parts. A friend of mine said ‘you have a lot of cool interesting stuff- but you can’t see it with all the **** in the way’. He was right! So I put away a lot of crap upstairs and hung up some of the more interesting crap. Shakers, colonnade windows, factory chrome valve covers....stuff Pontiac people would recognize. It came out fairly cool and only cost about $150 in fence boards. I have better pics but this is the one I have on my iPad that kind of gives you an idea.

I’ve only been at my current house for a little over a year, so I’m still very unorganized! My place is a mess. I plan on getting things tidied up when I get the cars out in the spring. I have a lot more to hang on the walls. My shed is only 24x 28’ or so. I have to figure out how to combine decorations and things I actually use, AND still have floor space left to work.

I did pick this up recently for the roof. I found about 30’ of copper ground cable just yesterday while dumpster diving. I didn’t even plan on actually grounding it!

Don't overlook thrift stores! I have found USA power tools really cheap and a die cast car that was in perfect condition.

Last Weekend I picked up what I believe is a Paper work rack used by a Pontiac Dealership Service Department from the early 1980's. It measures 50" tall, 32" wide. I plan on using it to display my autor Brochures and Tech Bulletins

Neat piece!
We had a local Pontiac dealership that shut down a few years ago, but he wouldn't sell anything. They were a Pontiac dealer for at least 40 years. I can't imagine what they have locked up in there.
