Default Transmission Identification

I have a reference to 1968 transmissions with the numbers 9785186, 9793092, 9783199, 9793093. Anyone know what these are and where to find a resource with the info? I'm at a loss....thank you.

I mistakenly thought you mentioned automatic.

Standard (GTO) three speed in 68 used pn. 9793425
M20 was 9793329 and M21 was 9793330

I looked up your mentioned pn’s in my dec 68 price list and
9785186 is group 4.003, list price of $175.00
9793092-3 is group 4.003, list price of $168.00
9783199, is group 4.003, list price of $175.00

Group 4.003 is transmission assemblies but the same group code applies to all kinds of trannies.

9793092-3 are Saginaw three speeds with 2.85 1st gear (6cyl applications) for Tempests. First one is column shift, second one is floor shift.

Can’t find the other two but the price indicates that they are also 3 spd manuals since 4spds were $300-350 and automatic even more.

I did find a close one, 9785187 which is a 66-67 Tempest 3spd Saginaw manual column shift for 2bbl V8 applications.

Just to clarify the Price List book just lists pn’s in numerical order with group code and price but no name, description or application info.

The Master Parts Catalog has pn’s sorted by group code with name, description and application info and sometimes prices.

So the 4 pn’s you initially posted were all cataloged parts in 69 but I can’t find the two in the MPC. The group code indicates they are transmission assemblies and the price indicates three speed manual of some sort.

OK, thanks to all.

These numbers were in GM Heritage Center numbers I was compiling. When I get the chance, I'll relook at the statistics....except among 150 pages or so, I don't know what page number I should be seeking. :-/

I had about same results as North.

No #9785186 but had 9785187: 66-67 T/8 3spd

9783199: 66-67 T/6 3 spd

9793092: 68-69 T/6 3 spd (Saginaw)
9793093: 68-69 T/6 3 spd (Saginaw)

Don't know the application for them other than Tempest and whether for 6 cylinder or 8 cylinder.
