Built right it can handle anything!
The TH400 is the greatist of Transmissions.
The early HD case is a great asset!

I suggest a good rebuild and a shift kit.
If you are going to swing for the fences you can do anything.

For a limited amount of funds you can pick up "HOW TO WORK WITH AND MODIFY THE TURBO 400 TRANS" by RON SESSIONS. It's a good guide on how to do a good rebuild or to modify the trans for mild or full on race. I used it to modify my 400 in my 64 Catalina, and with a mild shift kit and some modifications suggested in the book, This trans has been in 2 cars and has gone down the track in the 11's. All that with a single redo!!!!!! Its easy to go by too! Good luck
