I have a flywheel that I want to install on a 62 G.P. with an original 389. I believe that, although it has the same bolt pattern as the 389, it may be from a 400 cu. in. because the center hole for the boss is larger. If I use it will the bolts remain tight and be safe to use without sawing deep into the back of my knee joints?? Thanx much

Thanks, I saw that one and it's just like mine with the bigger crank hole, will it have to be bushed?

Just have it bushed. A freind of mine has a late 70's firebird, and he had a flywheel on it with too big of a hole. The thing was never centered properly and caused many problems incuding excessive clutch wear, horrible wheel hop off the line, strange vibrations, etc. Once he fixed it, it was much better. A bushing would be VERY easy to make. Do you know anyone with a lathe? Machine shops these days tend to be on the expensive side.

Thanks for that, was a little skeptical about that but you saw it work, that's good. I am trying to find someone who sells them new but if not that's what I'll do, mostly was worrying about one coming unglued with just the bolts keeping it's place.

You could always machine a step in the flywheel and put a small lip on the bushing to fit into the step hold it in place.
