Hmm, looks like I'd better bite the bullet and sign up with the POCI.

I just noticed in the latest Smoke Signals magazine that there's already a website for '71-'76 full size cars, at www.classicpontiacs.com... so, maybe this group should be for full size cars 1970 and earlier.

Here's a thought. Just let cars in from the Bunkie Knudson (1957?) era thru 1970 When the cars were the gentlemans hot rod.

Yeah, I totally agree with that, maybe push it to '75 cause the cars are so similiar until then and that would also increase membership.

This is going to be cool...

I'm in...."Big Time"

remember: Clubs = dues,time,paperwork,someone to organize,time,websites,newsletters,time,members,
time
The club will only be as good as the members running and organizing it (time)

I always have loved the idea, but never the time to do justice in organization for the cause. But as member, I can give my piece of time, effort, and cash to make it happen.

hmmm...if it didn't sound so "hip-hop"...how about "Big Timers" "Big Time Pontiacs" "Big Time Pontiac Owners"

A cut off for years restricts membership potential.Although I'm not opposed to the restriction.

Car owners only ?, or All interested in biggies?

Body class..a,b,f....restrictions or how about name badging. Example ("GP's" only, any year)

A blending of old and new tech and body styles would say we're more interested in the "names" than the actual size of our rides.

This "Island" of a Catalina in my garage is in as well....BIG TIME !!!!!

I hope this club can be more about the cars and less about dues. That's why I stopped going to meetings up here. Now granted the meetings i went to were held during the winter but all they seem to talk about was due, memberships, etc, and I just thought we'd talk cars. Just my thoughts, because I know there will be the reality of club business but i'd like the focus to be about fullsize cars, tips and sharing of knowledge.

Know that we've talked about this for awhile and it seems like people are interested. Let's get rolling.

SteveP you said you knew who to contact at POCI. What do you need from us? A headcount? Or POCI numbers? Let us know. If we have enough people lets get the ball rolling.

Ponchpio email or call me so we can talk about a website design. W-952-897-9466.

Here's another questions about the website. All depending on the size I guess. What do you guys think should be on it? Readers rides. Fullsize pontiac ads and of course a link to this website.

Plus let's throw out some more names and we'll vote on it somehow. "Big Time Pontiacs" is a good start.

Sorry for rambling, but, I'm still excited about this.

B-Body Pontiacs of America

I think is a cool name. Pretty much says it all without being too flashy.

And gto1967, you have mail....

OK, I'm back from the weekend guys. Didn't have a chance to check in. I'm going to put some info together and float a few ideas out to you. Spoke to my web guy and will meet with him this week to pass along some ideas that we all come up with.

This may sound like heresy, but I would rather not be a specialty chapter of POCI. I'd rather we were just a club. Getting bogged down with reporting to POCI, having required meetings, and reporting rosters and dues to POCI. I'm already a part of the Grand Prix Chapter and see what a nuisance it can be. Most of us are probably already members of POCI anyway but I would hate to have it be a requirement to all hang out together. Any thoughts?

Also, I don't want my enthusiasm to make it appear as though I'm taking this thing and running with it! It was just such a great idea...I want to make it happen ASAP! It sounds like we all have a ton of resources that would allow multiple contributors, but since I have a web guy, I thought it would make sense to establish a "home-base" of sorts. Does that make sense? Karl really threw the idea out here, so I'm going to email you off the board Karl and perhaps we can chat by phone.

This is gonna be fun fellas!

John

I like that idea. As i said early i want it to be about the cars. Something fun and informal.

The way I look at it is, if you want to take the ball and roll with it, more power to you. It takes people like yourself to get these things going in the right direction. Probably we need to get some kind of database going. Me along with a few friends of mine started a club for collectors of Dean guitars. It started out exactly like this and now we have the DOA (Dean Owners of America). This was in late 2001 and now we have over 150 members. If you want any info let me know and I will be glad to help

POCI won't bog anyone down. They want to see a membership roster and an annual report once a year. The annual report asks a few questions about what is going on in the club and an account balance and a list of officers.POCI also has inexpensive insurance for officers and directors. It will also be a good medium for free advertising(11000 members)for more members. You have 1 meeting a year at the POCI convention,or more,if you want.
I can do the paperwork, done it before.
Let me know if you want me to proceed.
