Hi Folks,

I need a little advice.
I have a 66 Catalina with a YD 389 and a/c.
I'm wanting to replace the stock 2bbl intake and carb with a stock 4bbl intake and carb.
I'm hopeing to check out the Charlotte auto fair in a couple of weeks and maybe find one there.
What is the stock set up? Carter carb?
What year models will fit my 66 and what do I need to look for to keep it factory stock???
How easy (or difficult) would this conversion be? Linkage?
Are there any such animals for sale here?

Thanks,
Kevin

Carter AFB is the stock carb. I believe 65 and 66 carbs are the same, but am not positive. ( I put a 70 intake and Q-jet on my 65 389). There are some web sites for the AFB, try a google search for more info. I do know that the 65-66 intakes are the only ones that are stock and will fit. 67 used the Q-jet manifold and 64 will not fit. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Intakes from 65-72 are the best choices.
65-66 use the AFB carb and Some 67's came with the AFB also. Starting in 67 the Q-Jet became standard.
There is nothing at all wrong with running a nice AFB. Done it for years!
