You could check the radial slop in the bearings before you take it out. The side to side play should not be noticeable. That could be contributing to your problem

Sounds more like an accelerator pump problem.

Might be the "timing" of the pump shot. The pump should spray the exact moment that the throttle plates move. Check for play in the linkage or correct adjustment. Les

It wouldn't be a Bad thing to Put in a Set of Bluestreak Points in your distributer.
They will make a huge difference.

Hi Pitts,
Everything is good here in SoCal. The GP shoud be out of the paint shop this week so I can finish it it in time for the Route 66 cruise in early May. We just returned from Pontiac Heaven Drags event in Phoenix where I won the Musclecar Drags and finished third in the Pontiac only drags (in the Trophy brackets). The hole closest to the pivot produces the greatest pump shot due to the increased pump travel. Give it a try and see if it helps. Les
