Default 67 Louvered Air Cleaner

Did the Louvered type air cleaner come on the 67 428 cars as an option? Was if available for the Big Cars?

Default '67 air cleaner

Actually I think the louvered air cleaner came standard with the 428, certainly the 428 H.O.

Originals are hard to find. I don't know if they are repo'd. Good luck

Thanks, My 428 came with a single snorkle air filter. I found an oringnal louvered air cleaner. Making sure that it was an option.

Default 67 air cleanre

Nice!!! Very Corvette-like.

That was the last year they were offered. I don't know when they were first offered. In '68 they went to the PCV hose and air cleaner connection.

Both A&B Body offered an optional engine with Louvered breathers.

I think the 67 428 HO used the same air cleaner as the 400 HO in the 67 GTO (open element). The louvered air cleaner was part of the standard 400 GTO engine and was probably used on the 4bbl 67 428 non HO.

I had a 69 Bonneville Brougham with a 428 HO engine but the original air cleaner was replaced with an aftermarket one. I think the 68 and 69 428 performance motors used the same dual snorkel as the 68 and 69 GTO's.

Default air cleaners

I have seen one stock '69 428 HO and it had a single snorkle air cleaner but with a larger/wider and shorter air opening than the standard 428 with a longer and narrower snorkle. It looked similar to snorkles in the mid 70's that had the flexible tubing attached that ran out to a "cold air" opening.

I looked in PY catalog and it says they sell repo louvered air cleaners.

Yes, the 328 HO use used the open element style air cleaner

I have a very nice original louvered air cleaner and original qudrajet base, with factory original foam element. This was on my 67 GTO. If someone has interest I will part with it for I currently run a 66 Tri Power on my 67.

only the 69 GTO used a dual snorkel in 68-69, all the others (Firebird 400, 68 GTO, GP or B 428 HO or non HO) used a single snorkel with a Chrome lid like the photo from 67GP428. I think in 67 California cars used this unit instead of the louvered unit in order to fit a PCV return to the air cleaner.
