COOL..i do the same thing, i split it with a guy, he does the hauling and gets half..i tried hauling it in,and it took one 300 dollar trailer tire to realize thats not profitable for me, so my guy takes the risks, he has a rollback, so bigger better tires etc..i will get some pics up...i ebay and sell world wide too..funny..i though i was unique...same thing happened to me, work slowed down to a crawl, but my expenses didnt, so i just buy cheap junk, ive ben doing it long enough now, it finds me, i have 3 junk haulers that call me, and i pay more than they can get scrap, but im pickey...works great...now work is so busy, i cant do as many cars as i want..lol

dumb question for you. We just got a plasma cutter recently and I was reading the instructions and warnings. It says that due to it being electrical cutter and needs ground - that should not touch the piece that are cutting. PLan on using to cut floors out. How do you cut the floors without touching when have to be in the car to do it??

ya i have a plasma cutter too, and i never use it..SAWZALL all the way..ive seen guys set their shop on fire and loose thier car with a plasma cutter, they have their place, but not in old car dismantling, unless you have the car completely gutted and nothing combustible in there...

You just ground it on a clean part on the car, just like a mig welder, nothing special to worry about, if i was cutting the floor out, i would grind a spot on the lower rocker and attatch it there...you wont get shocked unless your standing in water...you can touch the car or whatever while cutting, its basically an arc welder with air pressure to push the melted metal out, the gun is hot or positive, the ground is negative...ya ever saw a guy laying in a car mig welding floorpans in? Same principle just it cut and blows instead of arcing and jaming wire in the puddle.

Eric, you're very different then most then.

At least you're putting the parts to use for other owners.

YEP BRAD,

i try to get them before they hit the junk yard. i don't have the space like marxjunk has, and i could only do 2 cars at a time.

i'd be making a ton more money w/ the finds mark comes up with. just not that much listed up here......now i can't find anything local worth while.

I have a good relationship with a couple of the local scrappers. When they get anything old they let me know. I typically trade the leftovers from my last part out plus a little $$$ to get fresh material.

Story behind the car? A one owner car always comes with history.

These are a couple vairs I sold a couple years ago. A major pain to try to sell parts off of. The buyer was nothing but trouble. I should have scrapped them.
