Default Correct finish on this PS pump mounting bracket?

Most of these brackets i have seen on correctly restored 1970 GTO’s are unpainted and just the natural as cast color. However I have seen quite a few painted black as well, and on some very professionally looking restored cars. I’ve always thought somebody must have painted it black along the way and maybe to match the rest of the PS Pump and hardware, however my Judge has me wondering a little more now?

You can see in the pics all the back paint, but not only in the front, but also the back including in that cavity and nooks and crannies that nobody sees. This had to have been painted off the engine.

The other thing is I purchased the car from the original owner in unrestored condition. I’m fairly confident when I say I don’t think the original owner painted it. FWIW this is an early 70 Oshawa built Judge.

I joke with my buddies about the car saying the bad news is that the guy did absolutely nothing to it...the good new is that the guy did absolutely nothing to it. LOL

Natural cast aluminum on every one I've every removed that was original & that's a ton of them. Have also pulled a few that prev owners painted '66-"70 Pontiac Blue, a few that were spraybombed black, as well as a few that were painted Chebby orange

There were some differences in Oshawa built GTO's like glued down trunk mats (so your trunkpan rusted out even faster) and no seam sealer on the door skin joints etc but I've never seen any sing of factory paint on a P.S. bracket.

My Framingham built 69 Judge also has a glued down trunk mat.

I've had probably a 100 of these in my hands over the years but all the ones I would consider original were all natural finish. My 69' Judge PS bracket is natural finish. I think I'd go back with it that way on the restoration
