Thanks! I enjoyed the article on "Big Daddy". That is Pontiac Perfection!
Here's the guitars I keep in active play rotation. When I'm not pickin' 'em, I'm fixin''em! Still have plenty of custom builds in the on deck circle.

Seeing that rack of guitars kind of reminds me of my competitive skiing days. I had 7 pairs of skis back in 1972....
Now I only have 3 - of which I use 1. |

I played guitar as a kid- I sold my Washburn but still have my pink/purple BC Rich rave.
I can’t play anymore but have thought about picking some old ones up as art |

BC Rich was a hot guitar back in the day!
For years now, artificially aging on guitars (called Relics) has been all the rage. The guitar makers have all introduced artificially aged guitars to their lines. There are also specialist guitar finishers who charge $thousands to make a new Les Paul or Fender look like a golden era '50's model This includes aging metal and plastic parts, adding nicks, chips and dents along with deglossing. Some feaure hand-cut "checking" in the lacquer to look like an old finish that has dried out and shrunk from years of use. Some builders use a Freon process, heating the guitar and then super cooling it rapidly for more realistic expansion/contraction cracks in the finish. Here's a pic of a brand-new Fender Roadworn series guitar as an example: I am not down with this fad at all but a lot of people do like the look.

Got the roof on today. It's a pain, but it's getting close to done.

Looks like it may have involved some tree-dodging with long heavy lumber? Pull-down stairs suggest plans for parts storage? |

Neighbors C., Here is my awsome settup! I was digging through some pics the other day and found this from around 1980. I played all the time back then and was in a couple of bands for a few years. My son has turned into the guitar guy in my house and has quite a collection now. Mostly fender stuff. I gave these 2 to him a couple of years ago on the condition that he keeps them the way they are. Amp is long gone, but I still have a big 'ol Ampeg. I'm with you the relicing thing. I figure if they got beat up a bit from being played thats fine, but not to do it intentionally. When I as playing we did everything would could NOT to beat them up, including polishing when done playing. |

NC glad you liked my story in Poncho Perfection.
Looks like we are all staying busy and getting some things done that were much overdue. I know the 8 weeks we had here at home, was actually a plus as we were able to really get a big jump on getting my next car project on it’s way off the lift, onto the roads for some great fun. BURT is on his way soon to a show, cruise, or just a ride around the block very soon. . Maybe even another story for Poncho Perfection is in my future.

Very cool rig … Gibson Marauder, Fender Telecaster and Peavey Classic? My "career" lasted a couple gigs with buddies back in the late 60's. I had a '68 Gibson ES335 and a 1958 Gretsch Nashville (like the John Lennon one), played through a Fender Super Reverb 4x10 and 2x12 Bandmaster cabinet. If anything, we were loud! Not a day passes that I wish I hadn't sold those guitars. Glad you hung on to yours and that your son enjoys them!

The amp is sitting on a 'flight case' that I built. I bought the tele from a friend. Its a '72 model. He had it stored in a horse barn, neck bolts stripped. I gave him $75 for it. It was originally a natural finish ash body. But that was beat up pretty good. Going back to your post, it would have fit right in now with the relicked look. I took it to a body shop and they sprayed it with white imron. Paint is still impeccable after all these years. One of my best friends who played in the band with me had a knock off copy of my marauder, it was made by crestline. He then got a black les paul custom. I also have a Les Paul gold top, played it maybe twice!

Back in the day I had an Airline Res-O-glas guitar that I played through a Bassman amp with 4x12's. Gave the guitar away for free back in the mid 70's. Now they bring pretty good money. Currently I have nothing fancy...Fender Strat and a Les Paul that is probably a fake...but it plays great into a 40w Egnator.!

You can't neat a Strat and Les Paul (even if it's a copy), you got all flavors covered and that Egnator makes everything sound sweet. I have a Vox Modeling Amp (ADVT-50) and a Fender Deluxe Reverb. I actually prefer the Vox to the Fender these days since I can't crank it up in my condo and the Vox sounds way better at low volumes.
