Hey, I've got to paint it after I scuff it so I don't mind this topic drifting.

After searching I see that a lot of companies have DTM offerings, some acrylic based, others 2K. Looks like DTM falls into two categories, primers and products intended to be used without topcoating.

Southern Polyurethanes. Not a value line by far. Likely the best epoxy for the best price. UV inhibitors means no topcoat needed. Also the go to primer for Endura bumpers. Sands and builds great. Their forum is excellent.

DTM products are collision products and really have no place in modern restoration work imho. Epoxy is the best product for bare metal. Best adhesion.

If you have to paint it after you scuff it....I wouldn’t use the DTM....The DMT was made to match under hood colors from the factory....and also inside of new fenders....Click image for larger version

Thanks for the recommendations of the red/maroon scotchbrite ... wonderful stuff, who knew scuffing could be this easy. It would have taken days with the green pads I was using. And bought a whole shop size roll for $23, should last me years.

PS. Is is just me, or does vigorous scuffing of E-coat make kind of a poopy smell ?
