Default Underhood Paint Finishes

Hi all,

Metal work is finally closing in on the home stretch for my '66 GTO restoration, so that means I need to start thinking about paint. Although I'm going have someone else paint the body exterior, I was planning to prime & paint the underside and underhood parts myself.

Question for you all: Are the firewall, inner fenders, and radiator core support all the same gloss level? And what is that gloss level in the first place? Any professional-level paints that you can recommend?

TIA.

For a quick answer, no. The firewall should be slightly flatter, and a non a/c heater box glossy. To me, the ultimate finish for major under hood parts is PPG single stage 9649.

I just did my firewall with Eastwood 2k Chassis Black. Came out very well.

I used similar to og68 on my 'bird. I was gonna spray it with single stage, but decided to use spray bombs. My logic was that it would make touch up in the future easier. Although I have not had to do anything with it since the car has been on the road.
