New motor & headers install
Hello all,
Hoping to learn from someone else' experience here. I've got a new motor on the way and a set of 1&7/8 Doug's Headers coming soon. My question is, better to install headers and motor as a unit or should I put the headers on afterwards? Or, is it going to be one of those deals where the engine is jacked up a few inches to shoe horn the headers in? This is going into a 68 Firebird, no AC. Thanks.

No way to put the headers on the engine and drop the entire assembly into place.
Lay the headers in the engine compartment first (using some old towels to prevent scratching them up) and bolt them up once the engine is almost down on the mounts. Depending on the header design you can also put them on from underneath once the engine is sitting on the mounts, but again putting them on the engine first isn’t going to work.

Yep, no way to put the headers and engine at the same time. Either lay the headers in the engine compartment, then drop the engine in or drop the engine in and snake the headers from the bottom.
