If you were to measure the inside diameter of the OEM tube that goes from the factory Valve Cover grommet location to the Air Cleaner nipple and gauze filter, THAT WOULD BE THE MINIMUM FLOW DIAMETER I PERSONALLY WOULD USE.

If you have that much oil accumulating over an inch deep at the back of the valve cover, you have drain-back problems.

I guess i didn't explain my point well... They may "seem" expensive, but the quality, along with not needing to weld on your brand new aluminum valve covers, makes them a viable solution. I will probably use them myself when I finalize my coil mount scenario on mine.
