Unhappy Does your AT have this?

Does the throttle valve cable lever on your automatic transmission have a return spring, like in the attached picture?

The picture is from the chassis shop manual for the '62 Tempest. I noticed today that in the picture the lever on the transmission for the throttle valve cable extends up slightly past the pivot, and a spring connects there. On my car, the lever ends at the pivot , and there is no place to connect a return spring.

Should I jury rig something? Or is this something that was changed and I don't need to worry about it?

Several of my 62's have the return spring, a couple dont.
