Default "Betsy" is back on the road!!!!

Work finally let up some & I got a couple solid days to put on the car. Still have a couple of things to work out but she fired right up & is running fine!! Its been a long hard road since last October when she got flooded out. Had to pull out the entire interior to dry everything out. Then had to drop the trans pan & get all the water out of there. 3 flushes later & no pink showing on the stick. Just red fluid. Then the motor had a couple of valves start sticking. Pulled the head & put on a reman I had sitting on the shelf. Then decided to put the 4bbl setup back on. Its been bagged & box'd & on the shelf for over 10 years. In that time the gremlins got to some of the parts. I still cant find the choke heat riser tubes that goes between the manifold & carb. Also cant find the bottom of the air filter housing. its summer now here so just wired the choke open & tossed on a cheap chrome filter assy I had laying around. Took her out for a spin tonight & put about 50 miles on her. Feels good to be back in the saddle again!!

Glad to here she's driving again. She looked kind of sad that last time I saw here. But she told me she knew you would get her going soon. She's a good ol' girl.

Congrats Keith, I know EXACTLY how you feel, been working my ass off putting my 69 FB back together from a frame off with what little time I have.

Sat in it a week ago making vroom-vroom noises, got her all running yesterday, still have to bleed brakes, put the nose/hood on, align it.

All the other piddly stuff can wait, been 12 years since I drove her.

Atta-a-boy Keith glad to see driving it again.
I miss driving my wagon. Should have the money
to buy a new radiator for it soon and I'll be back in the
drivers seat once again.

GT.

Default Missing choke heat riser tube

Keith, is this the choke heat riser tube you're looking for? Let me know, if so I can throw it in an envelope and get it down to you.

Chuck,, There are 2 of them. Cant remember what they look like. Cant find a picture either. They are quite long as the carb is turnd 90*. If someone has a good clear picture of a 61 4bbl setup, I can make a set of tubes.

Put about 100 miles on her today. Still some tuning issues. Need to double check timing, dwell, carb adjustment. Motor is lazy, boggs down some. Idles real nice.

Keith, looks like the one I have is a single heat riser tube for 2 bbl, not 4 bbl. Most of my 4-cyl boxes are gone, but I'll keep looking.

Drove her to work & back today. 1st time since October. 75 Mph, 3000rpm, 55 psi oil pressure, 185* on the temp gage. Everything normal. Going to tackle the tune this weekend.

What's the asterix after the 185 mean?

It would be easy to remember if one owned a Pontiac made in 1976!

Trip to & from worktoday the same as yesterday. Everything looks good. Just need to get the tune correct.
