I have an original 1963 lemans. the interior is original, but the seat cover pattern is that of the 1964 GTO. Did pontiac change over the seat cover pattern as a production change rather than a year model change? I have other lemans seats and they all have the same pattern except for this car. I consider it original because of the age of the material and the fact that the rear seat has this same pattern.

How close in size is the 64 seats compared to your 63 LeMans seats? I currently have a bench, and would love to use the extra bucket seats from a 65 LeMans I have.

If I understand it correctly, the tempest buckets as well as the gto and full size buckets are the same size, the difference is the upholstry pattern

I may be wrong but I was under the impression that the 62-63 Tempest & Lemans shared a lot of hidden parts with the Chevy Corvair. I have looked at 1964 Lemans & GTO seats & also looked at 1963-64 Corvair seats. I have a 63 Lemans & one pair of seats are sunfaded so you can see a lot of the stuffing & the frame and springs. When I look past the vinyl those have a shape of the metal framework that look a lot more like Corvair seats to me. Another thing, my seats when you tilt them (as if you were going to get into the rear seat area) they fold inwards slightly(towards the centerline of the car). I do not think 64-65 GM A body seats fold inward at all, they fold in-line towards the dash & steering wheel. Anybody else here?

Yes, but in terms of the springs, padding & framework are 1962-63 Lemans seats more like 1960-64 Corvair seats or 64-65 GTO &/or 64-65 Big Car Pontiac seats?

Both the seats in my convertible have very weak springs & a lot of the original burlap padding has been eaten up by rodents over it's long time in storage. The original black vinyl is in nice shape, (one piping) along the outside edge on the Driver's seat needs replaced. My plan is to replace all of the springs & the padding before driving my car.(Going into the paint shop in 10 days.) I just am trying to figure out, in advance the best parts to order, that will fit & make the seats look original.

The 61-63 seats are real close to the 64-65 seats. The corvair seats are smaller.

While I was at the GTOAA in MI. I stopped inside the "Legendary" Auto Interiors tent. They had some impressive samples of their redone seats & reproduction door panels for mainly 1964-1969 GM cars.

I am wondering if other people out there with 63 Lemans could have a need for some reproduction seat covers of the original pattern. I asked the guy there if there was any chance if they would be macking anything interior-wise for any 63 Le Mans cars. He said "don't know right now" but I did fill-out a form stating what year & color I would be interested in if they made 63 stuff.

I remember seeing this same company many years ago at Carlisle with their line of early 1970s Mopar reproduction seats & door panels. I as I recall, even back then their quality was very good. My idea was if everyone from this site EMs them and, say requests seat covers & reproduction door panels for 1963 lemans, maybe they will make some for us, (hope, hope).
Can some people help?
I would really like to put the original blue interior back in my car but if no new covers get made anytime soon I'll have to use the black seats I have here from a "donor car."

I'm reasonably sure that the bucket seats are the same for all the GM models, big or small. my question deals with the pattern of the vinyl. my 63 lemans has a different vinyl pattern in the door panels, front seats, rear panels, and rear seat than any other 63 tempest or lemans that I've ever seen. the seat pattern resembles that of the 64 gto and the door and back panel match the seat pattern. I've looked through old ads and this seat pattern does not appear. the entire interior looks to be original because I've had the door panels off and the inside is made just like the other factory door panels on my other lemans. it all is in pretty good shape but you can tell that they are old from the condition of the backing. I have the build history and it was produced in jan, 1963, so a year end change over is out of the question. has anyone had any experience with this interior. I owned the car for a year before I noticed that it was different. the difference is that the door panel "stripes" go up and down and not front to back and the seat "stripes" go up and down and not side to side. does anyone know if different factory locations had different interior suppliers. this car was built in kansas city 1-16-63

Hi, can you post a pic or 2, or 3 of your seat(s) & door panels.
As far as I know the pattern for all 1963 Lemans was a "one-year-only" pattern. I have seen no other pattern used. I have looked at &/or seen about 15 or 20 original Lemans cars in the past 10 or so years & they all have ahd the same interior as in all 3 of mine.

I saw the picture and I agree that that is a 1963 lemans interior, but mine is different. let me add that I have tried to post pictures on several ocassions which only makes me hate computers even more than before. if someone can get them on the forum, send me your address and I'll mail them to you (notice, I didn't say e-mail)
