Default 1982 Recaro T/A just about to ingest a 400 pontiac!

I've been storing a 4 speed recaro t/a for a buddy and he decided to let me pretty much have it(got the call an hour ago!!).. I have a w72 400 out of a 78 t/a and was wondering if the swap is as easy as it looks?? The car is a 4 speed and I'd like to keep it that way.. Anyone know anything about this conversion??

Thank!

Welcome aboard.

If you own a thirdgen and plan on working on it/talking about it, you should become a member at thirdgen.org. It's the largest tech-only site for these cars out there, and they have a whole forum for engine swaps. In that forum, there is a "sticky" thread at the top all about Pontiac V8 swaps. Here's the link:

http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/en...-v8-swaps.html

Good luck, and enjoy your new car.

What shape is the car in?
Reason I ask, is because these cars can be worth more than a regular production Trans Am.
You may not want to modify it.

Just wondering,

George

I'd put a BMR K member in it and install a LS1

The car is pretty decent but the windows were down and the seats are hard and pretty bad.. Carpets wasted ect... Be waaay more fun with my 60 over 412

No offense mr. gto but the only pontiacs I drive are pontiac powered ;o)!!!

I'm actually planning on only chnaging the engine (with the swap mounts) and keeping everything else stock.. The bellhousing is the original and is a multi fit which I thought was interesting.. There were no pontiac engines available in 82 but it looks as if they designed it that way or used one already set up for a poncho v8. It didn't have the stock wheels and all the markings but did when my bud bought it 6 years ago.. I figure with the 3.23 posi and the low gearing (3.42 first) and the fact my 412 is set up to run 6500, it will be damn fun! The only thing I'm adding to the car is a set of good sub frame connectors and an exhaust that will work with the high rpm poncho v8...
