Yeah, I'm kidding, but only because I can't believe you're serious about being uncertain. If you are into these cars, anybody can see this is a screaming deal for $4500. It's as solid as they come, and ready to go. Me, I'd leave it bone stock and use it as a daily driver. Not an early Tempest guy, but it's plain to see this is an excellent buy. I really AM going down to Bako tomorrow, and it really IS tempting, though!!!

I might just give my buddy John Lenko in "Bako" a call Sunday and see if he wants to cruise a '61 till I come for it --

Default why did you pass it up?

Curious. why didn't any of you guys pull the trigger on this car?

I did as much DD from here in NJ (pictures and talk) and decided its a good deal. Even adding the extra grand on top of the $4500, its still a good price. $5500 to NJ with all the spares too? good deal.

Virtually ANYTHING in NJ is a rot-box, unless it came from out west. Even garage queens 50yrs old usually are swiss cheese. A function of 90+ % humidity during the summers! Buying a NJ car just ensures you'll be replacing floors, trunks and qtrs.....IF you can find sheet metal at all. Very difficult situation in the east.

Is there something I am missing?

You are missing nothing. Great price for what appears to be a very clean car. I have too many now! I also was surprised that nobody jumped on that car! The interior is new but its a 62 interior. The 61 is a tri tone & very expensive to have reproduced. Very nice car tho,,,Enjoy!

Yes, I did notice that the interior was incorrect for the 61. That is of no concern, as the car is driver "as-is".
I requested a lot of underside detail pictures, and got them. very very clean. If she runs and drives as well as described, its a winner. The owner seems like a very up front guy.

As far a "affordable" classics go, the 61-63s seem to be in the same stagnant pond as the 1st Gen Corvairs. That is fine by me. Easier to get.
I prefer the 61's, as its the first year and the headlight treatment is very similar to the '59, which I personally like.

So..... payment has been sent, the Tempest will be NJ bound.

I thought monalisa was talked into buying it --

90% of the market is stagnant right now. The 61-63 V8s will pop with the next run-up. Stock 4 bangers are novalties for a long time to come.
