Default '61-63 Tempest Air Cleaners

Are 4bbl air cleaners from a 326 V8 and 4cyl the same?

Here is supposedly a photo of a '63 Tempest V8 4bbl air cleaner.
The snorkel is round and different than mine which is oval.

I know the 4 cyc are diff as they are made to bolt to a bracket bolted to the engine. It is to isolate the vibration to keep damage from the carb top and stud. The 1 bbl 4 cyc air cleaner also has a snorkel that that attaches to the metal snorkel and bends down into the engine compartment.Tom

Default V8

Your picture is not an OEM 63 v8 lemans air cleaner. They have an oval snout. Tom is correct about the 4 cylinder cleaner. They had 2 blind bolt holes in the lid for bolting to a bracket on the intake manifold. V8 cleaner lids have no bolt holes on the side of the lid.

The 4cyl 4bbl air cleaner also had the 2 holes in it to attach to the intake.

Default air cleaner

Here is one that has been sanded and primered. The base is for a 2 barrel. Application is a 326 ci. I also have the 4 cylinder version with the 2 bolt holes.
I think there is one in California available in the for sale section.

Well you can always buy my 63 parts car that has an attached "was running" 326 Torque tube/auto. It has a good air cleaner on top of a good 2 barrel? John

JFV - I just might do that for the drivetrain and air cleaner!

I'm looking for an aircleaner in good factory paint with the AC decal still on.
