I would like to see a patch panel made that would repair the dash area where the radio mounts on 69-72 A bodies. Finding an original uncut dash is getting almost impossible.

I got the idea while look through a Mustang restoration parts catalog. They have a panel that mounts over the dash and covers the cuts and holes from aftermarket radio installs. It’s not a very expensive part either.

This would be an easy part to make tooling for, since almost any sheet metal shop can bend and cut (punch) the steel. The part could be made to fit over the original metal (just like the Mustang panel) and fastened with countersunk pop rivets. More adventurous restorers could cut and weld the panel, although I don’t know how the dash would react to the heat.

This panel could also be made for the 68 and earlier cars, but that might take some extra thinking to figure out.

I have rarely received a request for the metal part. Mostly owners request the plastic part which is now available. I would thing there is an abundance of used dash pads that are cracked but not cut up around the radio area.

Uhh-ohh I see the '69 firebird headlight plastics are discontinued, see them on ebay for over $350 a set now. What happened?

Judge: "Well Sir, I have reviewed this case and I've decided to give your wife $775 a week." <br />Husband: "That's fair, your honor. I'll try to send her a few bucks myself."

I wish someone would reproduce a metal 1964 GTO hood. All I can find is glass at $395. Just doesn't seem right to put a glass hood on these old girls.

...Back in the early 80s, a friend of mine in the Detroit area located an original owner of a '72 GTO that came from the dealer/factory with this spoiler. He was able to borrow the 3 pieces for a few months and had molds made to produce a set for his GTO. Turned out very nice.
I still have photos of the original removed from the car.

I noticed in this month's issue of Pontiac Enthusiast that John Sawruk commented about the 'ducktail' spoiler. His opinion on the reason why it wasn't used; Too difficult to align. Well, if that were the reason, why did they release one for the Firebird/Camaro ?
