68 Hurst Firebirds
Do these things actually exist?
Not the 69 S/S cars that never really came to be, but instead probably some product development cars to showcase Hurst's parts. They would have been Meridian Turquoise, shod with a 69 Trans Am hood and sporting a 428. Does anyone have any information on these?

I’ve never heard of those. But would be very interested to hear I’d they existed. And if there are any remaining.

Pics attached. The hoods are throwing me off. I know the silver trans am was being developed in 67. Would hurst be able to obtain such a good prior to the TA’s debut?

Where did those pics come from? You'd think PHS would document these cars if they existed.

Both of these came from a gentleman I came across on Instagram. The coupe is his wife’s car, the convertible is a picture he has.
He claims the cars started off as a 400 and were modified by hurst. No documentation other than stories of course.

The '69 Trans Am hood barely made it on to the '69 Trans Am at mid-year...
It certainly wasn't available to anyone else to use in 1968.

I believe the vert is a guy in our club in NorCal. It didn't come like that orig. he's been building the car he wanted.

Here is another story about a run of 67 Firebirds built for Playboy (Hugh Hefner) all painted pink. What makes this interesting is the guy who told me this story came to my moving sale and noticed the Pontiacs in my garage. He worked at the Lordstown plant and described his job as a product planner. To make this more "credible" I personally inspected a pink 67 Firebird 400 convertible at a auction that had paint code SPEC on the data plate. Coincidence?
I have the guys email and have been thinking of getting some more info on his time at Lordstown. |

not saying hef and mary kay didn't special order pink cars (mary kay still orders pink cars), but anyone could order these pink Pontiacs. this subject has been discussed many times on this forum. it was an extra cost option and would have spec or -- on the cowl tag.
