Recently aquired a 68' LeMans convertible. It is in need of a total resto, but I drove it onto the trailer, so the potential is there. Anyhoo... It has an endura bumper with hide-away headlights, but no valance. I'm thinking I might want to go back to the chrome bumper with exposed lights, just like factory issue. It may seem weird, but I can go either way on the chrome/endura bumper. What I'm thinking is, if someone were to want an endura with hide-aways, I might be willing to swap for a complete LeMans/Tempest bumper/valance set up. Thoughts? Opinions?

Prevert? I'm way past that! I'm a Postvert!

Motornoggin, I wish I were closer, I'd trade you. When I bought my Lemans, I liked the chrome bumper too. I like it on the Firebird better than the Camaro as well. I still like it, but the center portion is a little out of proportion to me now. IT still looks good, but I like the short senter of the endura a little better now. Shipping would probably be too much from TN, though. Any ideas?

I have a good chrome bumper with a tiny ding in the center of the bumper (may be tapped out?) If you want to do some sort of a deal let me know.

Still not sure what I want to do. I'll let you know if I decide to do something. I don't know what an endura/hide-aways without valance is worth compared to a complete chrome front with valance. I'm on a tight budget (aren't we all!). If I can find a valance for a reasonable price I might keep the endura. Just not sure...

Go chrome! Get a nice one if you can, these big bumpers aren't cheap to get rechromed. I considered the the endura idea for a while. Thought it would give my Lemans an identity crisis though.
Seen the chrome bumpers on Ebay once in a while. '68 GTO and Lemans use the same valance?
I know it's not a '68 but here's my chrome bumper.

I'm pretty sure the valance is the same, but haven't visited that issue in a while. I'm keeping mine a chrome and have an extra that needs redone available.

So MN, you can tell by the number of people trying to jump in line, that the hideaway setup is much more valuable/desirable than the chrome setup. If it were me, I'd sell the hideaway stuff to the highest bidder on ebay and buy the other and put half the money in your pocket. Actually, I just stored the hideaway stuff with my Lemans and now I have a 68 GTO that I need it for. You could probably find a good driver quality Lemans bumper for around 50-100 dollars close to your house. I'm STILL interested in a trade if you know of a reasonable shipping method.

I was thinking of switching to the endura from the chrome, but I decided to stay with the chrome!

Don't want to dissapoint anyone, but I think I'm going to stay with the endura setup. Looked at some pics of the car today and I decided I like the look (for now anyway). I'll need to find a valance, but that shouldn't be too hard. Thanks for all your opinions, I do appreciate it.

If anyone is interested in a swap, I have a brand, new, still in the box, Fiberglass reproduction valance panel for a 68 that I would trade for a nice chrome front bumper.
The front bumper on my car has nice chrome, but it's "sprung" on one side and doesn't line up with the hood or fender on the driver's side.
I bought the repro valance panel because I thought that the original metal one on my car was beyond repair. But my body shop guy worked a miracle and it came out great.
Between the return shipping and restocking charges involved, it didn't pay to send the valance panel back. So if anyone wants to do a trade...
