I'll keep the updates going on the H.A.M.B. and on OSR for sure. I'd like to see your car. Have you posted it on the H.A.M.B.?

Just once I posted a quick bad picture on the HAMB of it in the place it sat for 10 years. I'm in the parts aquisition stage but am working on getting the motor built so there's nothing to show on the body. I spent today working on my front axle getting it ready for chroming. I figured I'd chrome that seeing as how there won't be a front bumper .
I'll see if I can post a couple pics here.

What is OSR?

Phil

LOL.

I'll stop complaining now! Are you going to use a Pontiac mill?

Thats going to be sweet. I love the chrome axles too, but I try to stay away from the shiney stuff myself. Too much polishing. Although I did order a set of polished Radirs for this one. I usualy go with steelies.

I think you picked the better year as far as parts availability. Although I can get a one piece nose for mine.

Thats the way I'm going to go. Nose, hood, rear bumper, trunk lid and lower pan. I'd get the doors too but mine are too nice not to use. They are the best part of the car!

You're right though. I am not a " Pontiac man". I try not to be so narrow minded when it comes to the hobby. I am capable of seeing more than the badges on the fenders.

Besides the more diverse you are, the more there is to enjoy.

What would you think if someone put a Ford motor in a '63 split window Corvette? The '63 Lemans is an important part of Pontiac nostalgia and is a sought after car for Pontiac people in the know. Maybe Steve is blunt, to the point and even a bit sarcastic but I agree with him. If you're not a Pontiac guy, don't ruin a valued Pontiac. BTW, I'm just south of you in MA. If you need "Pontiac" help and you're not posting here, e-mail me. misterpontiac@yahoo.com

Rob, I'm not being rude but I honestly wouldn't care. I'm all done arguing about my engine choice. I have said my peace and don't expect to change anyones mind.

Just for the record I am not a Pontiac guy, a Chevy guy, a Ford guy... I am a car guy. I don't have any brand loyalty what so ever.

These are the last two projects we have done. I think you will see my point.

When I say "we" I mean my Father and myself. We build these cars together. That is the real reason I'm even in this hobby to begin with. It is a great way to spend some quality time together. I enjoy the build over anything else.

I will take you upon your offer though and contact you if I need some help with parts.

Thank you.

Oh and by the way, I wasn't saying I'm not going to post here anymore. I wasn't doing one of those "my feelings are hurt and I'm leaving so how do you like those apples" deals. I just won't get everyone riled up with my project here any more. It doesn't do anyone any good and I'm not big on "forum fighting". Thats all.

OSR is an awesome magazine. I really enjoyed reading the ones I had. I may subscribe even though I do not have one of those cool old cars.

Thanks, I'll have to do a search for it.

Whats your budget for the motor? If you do some patient searching you can still get a good deal on a Pontiac engine.

Here's good engine in Mass to make an offer on...

Here's a good deal on a short block...

Here's a more radical engine and trans in CT

You don't need to do a search. It's olskoolrodz.com. I'm not ready to buy an engine yet. I just spent alot of money on parts and am going to concentrate on the chassis first.

This is going to be at least a three year project and I don't want the engine sitting around for that long. I'm going to wait and buy one when I am ready for it.

Thanks for the links though.

Cool Kool!

Tim,

Your two projects came out pretty cool! I like the truck, is it for sale? I really like the rat rod craze that seems to be getting bigger. Saw some nice stuff in KY at the HRR and also at the March Meet. I'll be going there next month. I have a '63 Cat Wagon as my "project" car but it sits right now. Do keep us up to date on your Lemans and post pictures as you go. As for wheels, I'm partial to the 12 spoke ET's for the front.

Real nice projects you and your dad did. What paint did you use for the Hot Rod Black?

misterp - I love those wheels too. At least with that version you can run front brakes.
Here's a pic of the axle I'm working on...
I'm polishing the edges now so that they're highlighted and am leaving the rest of it semi-rough.
I think it'll have a cool look. Already picked up a disc brake setup for it too.

Misterp. The GMC is my Fathers. We worked out a deal and he got it and I got the Model A. I sold the A to build the 63. I think he would sell the GMC if you're interested I will ask him.

I like the spoke wheels too. It was a toss up between those and the Radir tri ribs. I went with the tri ribs. 15x4 with knock offs. The back wil lbe black powder coated steelies wrapped in Firestone cheater slicks.

6567,

The axle is looking good. The paint on the A is kustom flatz and the GMC is just black with a flatener added with a satin clear.

How do you like the Flatz stuff? It's definately inexpensive. Have you ever had to touch up? What was it like to work with?

I didn't have the A long enough to have to do any touch ups. It worked well though. It comes premixed, just have to add the hardiner. It wasn't as flat as we expected but I liked the color in the end.

I had the GMC painted professionally and I actually like the flatz better. They also have other colors as well. We'll most likely use the green on the 63.

Thumbs up

Keep us posted on the build. I might end up going the same way on my 62 Tempest but it will be all steel with a fiberglass hood as that is all that is offered that I know of. I got a 6x2 I am going to use on a 400 block and a 4 speed. Now if I ever get my GP painted I can start and use what I learn from you here . If not my e-mail is Pheinemann1@wi.rr.com and I am more than willing to help out on parts and hear what is going on. Pat

I'm not so hung up on your engine choice, it's your car. By the looks of the other cars it will look pretty cool.
