Out of curiosity, has anyone seen this 63 for sale on ebay? Not mine or anything but it is just interesting.
Not sure how to post a link from ebay, so I'll just give you the

The thing that i am finding the most interesting is that in only 2 days guys have bid this thing up to over $3000. I have watched ebay constantly for 63's and don't normally see them comand this much money for a car in this condition. Only about a month ago there was a 63 tempest sport coupe with a 326 that only pulled in a high bid of about $2200, and didn't sell, and it was complete and in very solid looking shape.
I think that because of its white exterior and blue int, and leaf sprung solid rear end, that some guys are hoping that it is possibly a long lost SD car, or at the very least something that has some 60's racing history.

There are more pics at item #110306497395 this thing may be Stan Antlocer's car. You can critcise its condition, but it may be a real SD tempest. Plexiglass windows and front windsheild. The Iskenderian cam tag on the dash. And the sheet metal hump in the trunk that was used for additional clearance for the 4spd transaxle. It doesn't have the aluminum front end but Stans front end surfaced years back, from what i have read. I would think you guys wuld be a little more interested. This may be a car guys fantasy come true. A factory drag car barn find.

I was wondering how long it was going to take for someone to figure it out.It is the Stan Long car,I have known where it was for a few years.I offered the owner my SD transaxle but he wanted to restore it to the way it was raced.I also know the guy that ownes the alu front end for the car.If all the parts could be put togeter again it would be a great car but i think the chance of that is between slim and none.I think the body will go for stupid money.JMO,Tom

Oh I figured it out already I just didn't say anything because I saw that you were asking for info in the auction. I didn't want to tip anyone else off.

I'd love to see you get the car. I know you have the means to restore it back to it's original glory.

Thumbs up

I figured it out pretty quickly after viewing the pics, had it ID as the Stan Long car too! ,how come the seller seems clueless to the car hertitage? may bid on it myself! I would restore it to the way it was raced (big car rear, 3 spd and lettering) there's already one restored to factory specs! may go look at it (only 4 1/2 hrs away from me)

God I envy guys like this. What I would not give to stumble on a find like this. I don't give a crap about the potential monetary value of the car. But just to acquire and restore a peice factory 60's racing history. And keep it out of some collectors climate controlled hermetically sealed grip.

I keep all my Pontiac literature in my office, so I couldn't check Pete's book until this morning.

I have just come to the same conclusion as you guys.

I suspect I can't afford it either, but since it is about 15 miles away from my office I may take a ride over there for a look.

Tom - (at your leisure, perhaps after the auction) can you fill us in on the history of the car; how it went from Stan to obscurity and how the aluminum front end became separated from the rest of the car?

[Incidently, there are also pics on pages 142 and 143 of Pete's book (Pontiac Musclecar Performance) showing Stan's car, from the rear, showing the same dents in the bumper and the Champion stickers on the rear quarter.]

Thanks,

K

If I had that car I'd be running it like it was intended to be run, possibly in street trim.THe monye enid of it doesn't mean squat to me with these cars but the enjoyment is priceless and I can't enjoy one sitting in a bldg polishing it.

I'm not in the market due to too many other irons in the fire but it's be neat to have.

With all the recent hype lately about SD's and seeing some of the prices paid for parts and cars, who's to say that a couple of guys didn’t spend a few weeks or months fabricating some tags, dents, components, etc. (from pictures) out of a standard Tempest?

Don’t get me wrong, I for one would love to see every SD found and restored to its former glory, but a guys got to be cautious these days, there are so many ulterior motives out their along with the tools to pull of the charade if the desire exists...

I understand the seller got it as a lien sale so the title is a new one without history. The previous owner's wife "didn't want to pay storage fee on it", apparently in the thousands when he died. Maybe she didn't know what her husband had. That is the bittersweet part of the story.
