Default Slowest in the industy

Placed an order on Tuesday and its going to take over a week to receive my parts. Really??? Summitt and others have a 2 maybe 3 day turn around. What a joke and a BIG disappointment.

Will its Tuesday and I received my parts. They said Tuesday and well it was here Tuesday. Thanks for being correct on forecasting my arrival date. Will continue to do business and just allow a little more time for processes. I guess one gets spoiled sometimes just like wi-fi speeds, phone strength, super size portions...

You have to keep in mind where you are in relation to the seller. I bet most of that time was due to the shipper. I have gotten parts in less than 24 hours from Ames, but then I only live about 3 hours away.

You think that processing your order, picking the parts, packing and shipping them half way across the country in one week is "the slowest in the industry"?!?!?

I've had the same experience as well. If I order during the AM I will have it the next day from Ames when they have an item in stock.

The problem is not with Ames as much as it is with the delivery service. If you are out in the sticks you can tack on an extra day as well, but unless you are willing to pony up for an expedited service the delivery times are pretty much what Ames states they will be. It is even printed in their catalogs.

To me ....what really sucks about any delivery.....
When I order some thing and it starts out as UPS, Then gets delivered to the local USmail to be delivered to me. That seems to take longer.

Default My latest order..

Once the box hits the floor of the truck, it doesn't matter who sent it. It's not the fault of the sender if delivery takes a long time. Speaking as a business owner who orders car parts every day, the problem lies in how many days pass after the order is paid for and confirmed and the time it takes for the order to be boxed and a tracking number to be assigned.
Up until recently I have had issue with the time required for Ames to ship my orders after I placed them. At the worst a few months ago, it was 5 business days. Add 4 more for travel time. I was used to PY shipping the day after and 2-3 days on the truck. Because I don't live within 12 feet of New Hampshire like some folks do, it takes a while to get here. I understand that.
Kevin and I emailed about the wait times and he admitted there were delays on his end with shipping, and he was working to get things streamlined and make things right. The PY buyout was the reason for some of that overload.
For a while since I have used other companies. Yesterday I called Ames and ordered about a dozen parts from Big Jim. It was 1:30. Less than 4 hours later I got an email notification with a tracking number! My parts are on the way days sooner than I expected!
The rest is up to UPS, and I don't think they care if we are happy with them like Ames does.
Thanks to Kevin and the Ames employees.

My parts arrived this morning in record time! Perfect timing for me as some are installed on the car all ready.

wtf do you work for them or know someone who does? why dont you go smoke some rope dickhead.

Rock, Summit, Lane...UPS has no switch off in my area and are great to work with. Bottom line ames needs to update their ordering and web-site to get up to par with the times.

I've ordered parts from Summit Racing in Ohio and GA that's taken less time.... 3 days. And they're a hell of a lot bigger than Ames is. Same for NPD in NC, and I hate to say it but OPG too in CA.

UPS is not always the problem like some think they are. I don't like UPS but it's the truth.

I only complain if the estimated arrival date is more than 2 days over the estimate. I order what i need, work all week, so there isn't usually time to play on the GP. "Oh! won't be here this weekend? Guess i will do it next weekend!" LOL Southern Ontario winters have provided me the patience. 2 feet of snow outside the shop door allows me to wait on parts cuz, lets face it, the car ain't goin anywhere for 6 more months! LOL. If i had a business, i might be a little more critical of parts deliveries.

I think the mistake everyone forget is where Ames is located and where they live. I have never had an order take more than one day to leave them and if ordered early sometime same day. As far as ups it about as good as it get for delivery time. I know some will disagree but overall it's service is great. Also they do guarantee time in transit so if it's late Ames should refund you your shipping cost and that includes ground. Just have to ask .

The whole northeast is one day service and maybe one day to pack. I don't know why or how you can bitch about that. I don't work for Ames or UPS but it's as good as it gets. I understand if you live in California it will take up to 5 or 6 days ground but so do other carriers. I would much rather people talk about the quality of parts than on it taking a day longer to get it. And you always want to use new rope. Ha ha that was good

I can understand the pain of the shipping wait.
I live in NY and it takes 5-7 days for any thing to show up from Cali.
The worst part is when the item starts out as a UPS or FEDEX then ends up with USPS, now that's Slow.

Its a service that has been around for quite a few years. It allows fedex and ups to drop ship at post office saving on the long rural route package. It saves the shipper money but the customer pays the price for poor service of the post office.

We ship 3,000 plus packages a year worldwide, and can count on one hand the number of issues we have due to the USPS.
